Many will carry on wearing masks in such places.

when I go into hospital I have to wear a new medical mask which is great And obvs medically approved. Everyone has to wear the same mask because they afford protection.

I don’t really think people wearing a scarf or a piece of cloth across their face in a supermarket really gives people the level of protection they think it does.

I’m convinced cotton masks are 99% psychological.

What annoys me is the incapacity of people to learn anything. Most masks don't stop virus particles penetrating the fibres but what mask-wearing does is reduce the opportunity for aerosol formation.

They will just make up some bullshit like Hancock did the first time, when he didn't isolate for 10 days.
Well well well. What a surprise.
Hahahahahaha, bunch of wankers.

Having read the article I bet PMQs won’t count as essential government business but dressing up in high vis and doing factory visits will!!

well it certainly is a huge reminder for the public not to forget we are in a pandemic which I think is the main driver now.

as I say if they were so important to prevent transmission why is not mandatory to wear actual medical masks. They are happy to give people free LFT and pcr tests to the public but free proper medical masks each week - no. Why ?

any old sock will do. People reuse any old mask or scarf they have lying around their house or in their pocket.

It happened in parts of the NHS in January and during the first wave. Most NHS services were postponed and we now have a waiting list of 13million people IIRC. What’s never worked to date (for Covid 19) is nerd immunity but a lot of posters don’t want to accept this, I’m afraid.
Herd immunity wiped out the Wuhan virus. The alpha variant is also on the ropes.

Immunity is key to how this ends but it took until the alpha variant came along to realise that we were dealing with a moving target and how it moves is key to all this. We need to move to. Because we can no longer talk about immunity as if it is black and white. It's not the case that we are 100% immune or 0% immune. It's a grey area, getting greyer. Anyone can bring a virus home with them, and vaccinated or not the whole household is now vulnerable.

This wave will crash when immunity levels reach the level they need to in all groups and then to finish the whole thing off we'll need another vaccine otherwise that immunity gets eroded.

Much better thanks mate, certainly went to bed feeling a bit rubbish but slept well. Biggest symptom this morning is really bad earache on one side.
Hope you test negative soon ,,I'll be interested to see how the health Secretary comes through it ?

The masks alone won’t make a huge difference although they offer useful protection for other people. It was more the populist messaging about “freedom day” etc that did for the restrictions in many areas well before they have been officially relaxed.

FWIW, a lot across both sides of the Pennines I noticed more ignoring of the rules on trains in the North West and that’s probably indicative of the bigger case numbers.
