Coronavirus (2021) thread

Absolutely unfortunately as we have seen this country with bog roll etc there’s a lot of knobheads out there, the trouble with following the science of it all, is that the scientists are just that, they won’t take into account what happens outside of coronavirus because that’s not their concern. There is a bigger picture and a balance to strike.
People don't realise that scientists are quite a broad bunch, there are just as many scientists saying that we should get back to normal as not. The loudest scientists for lockdowns are epidemiologists whose single and only job is to model the spread of COVID but they are not an authority on NHS waiting lists or the mental health epidemic etc.

We keep hearing the warning of the scientists but no-one questions at all why back in February SAGE predicted tens of thousands of deaths and hospital bed occupancies closing on the hundreds of thousands by July which never happened. This had nothing to do with freedom day either, it was all about the changes in restrictions back in April/May/June where actually there was virtually no impact whatsoever.

The only single thing that has impacted the figures isn't the change in restrictions but it's the Delta variant and the Delta variant came to exist AFTER their models. Had the Delta variant not existed then they'd be wrong by a stretch so incredible that it'd demand a public inquiry.

They'll be a good few end up in hospital..Delta will find the ones without strong immune systems or underlying health problems. Russian roulette ?

And the odds are now roughly the same as other respiratory illnesses. Everyone is talking like viruses have never existed before ffs.

Just hearing on LBC , live report of a club in Newcastle (highest rates of Covid) that holds 2000 people, they required people to wear masks - the reporter said she saw 3 people wear one lol
And I just saw a report on sky news regarding the flooding in Germany and he pointed at a house where the paint was darker at the bottom and said that was the line where the water had risen to, now I’m a bit cynical at the best of times but seeing as the line was above windows which weren’t damaged and not a single other house on the road had water lines that high I’m calling bullshit ans it was just a difference in paint.
Reporters talk shit at times to make their stories juicier.

So, the Delta variant was unforeseen, which kind of makes me ask what will happen in the next few months that is currently unforeseen and will the rule changes increase the chances of another variant by increasing the chances of people catching it and producing another ‘unforeseen’ variant?

They’ll always be new variants mate, not at lot we can do about it. We were told we would vaccinate our way out of it, now they’re saying that they may not work, I don’t know the answer but we can’t just stay locked up forever.

My employer is still forcing people to wear masks in the office, can they legally do that ?

Employers banned smoking in offices prior to legislation on the grounds of providing a safe environment for the majority of their employees who didn't smoke, so I imagine they can, especially as the Govt advice is to wear a mask.

Companies can say what people wear in terms of uniforms/ jewellery/ hide tattoos etc so yeah more than likely fine telling staff to wear a mask.

id suggest it depends on how much red tape the place has by default. Employee handbooks etc. Those that have a lot of policies in place are the ones likely to have had a clause added.

And that's the point. We don't know.

And we aren't ‘locked up forever’, I am not locked up. I have a restriction that indoors where people congregate I wear a mask. That is not ‘locked up’. Banged up in Strangeways is ‘locked up’.
