34 is young to die from Covid, vaccine or not though.

Surely he had some underlying health issues?
If he knew he had underlying health problems then it's even more stupid to not be vaccinated? If he didn't know he had underlying health issues and the covid exposed it then it's a reminder to us all that anyone of us could fall victim to covid and it is sensible to take pre cautions like vaccination.

Wales Data

FIRST UPTICK IN A FEW DAYS HERE BUT SOME GOOD NEWS STILL

THIS DATA IS ONLY FROM FRIDAY REMEMBER - SAT & SUN TOGETHER TOMORROW WILL BE THE REAL TEST

0 deaths - was 3 last week

1238 cases - was 1112 last week - highest since Monday (which was double day data last week too recall - over 2000 in fact). Been sub 1000 all week since last Monday.

Though not a big week to week rise as you see. But IS a rise.

The rest of the data from other nations today may be the key. IF they rise too.

Positivity 5.0% - was 5.3% - so that HAS fallen a tad and may be more important

Can somebody on here tell me how getting the jab stops the spread and so helps others? It's a genuine question that I haven't been able to find the answer to.

In the simplest terms:

1. It makes it less likely for you to catch it in the first place. If you don't catch it, you can't pass it on.

2. If you do catch it, you tend to infect less other people. That's because you have less viral particles ("virions") in your body, a lower "viral load", as the vaccine gives your immune system a head start on the virus. The less virus particles you breathe out, the less likely you are to infect someone else.

Current estimates of these are in this table from sage, as used in the modelling of the outbreak.

Cases across the regions: YESTERDAY

Change in last 24 hrs V seven days ago

SOUTH

East DOWN 265 to 2816 V 4508

London DOWN 630 to 4557 V 6592 - over 2000 fall wk to wk

London is now the highest region in England going solo (as in not versus the two combined areas to match the NHS regions)

South East DOWN 1082 to 3451 V 6346 - another big week to week drop

South West DOWN 1032 to 2745 V 3978

MIDLANDS

East DOWN 57 to 2556 V 4019

West DOWN 259 to 3424 V 5482

More modest falls here

COMBINING THESE TWO INTO ONE AS THE NHS DOES TOTALS 5980 - STILL THE LARGEST

NORTH

North East DOWN 282 to 1830 V 4454 - another huge fall week to week for fifth day running. First time sub 2000 in over three weeks.

Yorkshire DOWN 373 to 3383 V 6445 - again a big drop of nearly half week to week

NE & YORKSHIRE as Zoe and the NHS combines these two for the hospital data and this is now the second biggest area with 5213 cases. Ahead of London the biggest single region. But behind the MIdlands,

NB:- London, Midlands and NE & Yorkshire all currently have worse hospital numbers than the NW showing this same pattern is translating from these raw case numbers to those too - suggesting a degree of reality beyond some testing flaws,

AND

NORTH WEST DOWN 557 to 3615 V 7424

Biggest week to week fall so far and today. NW still 1000 behind London as well as a good way behind the two combined regions above.

Past weeks NW numbers are 7424 - 6962 - 5176 - 5058 - 5322 - 5600 - 4172 - 3615

Equivalent NW numbers a week earlier 4758 - 4231 - 4769 - 4931 - 6203 - 6212 - 7256 - 7424

Look at the week to weeks above:-

UP 2666 - UP 2731 - UP 407 - UP 127 - DOWN 881 - DOWN 612 - DOWN 3084 - DOWN 3809

HUGE turnaround as the week progressed.

GM numbers in past week 3088 - 2972 - 2147 - 2004 - 2322 - 2258 - 1623 - 1618

Total in GM from the NW cases Total - 44.8% well UP from 38.9 % yesterday and 41.6 % a week ago.

Not so good a day on the face of it for GM today - still fell but NW as a region did MUCH better. Though that is needed too. And helps us all more than GM outdoing the rest in the region.

GM total is around par based on population so it was expected to stabilise in the mid to high 40s%

And hard to say it is anything BUT it was a good day when wk to wk cases fall in GM virtually by 50% from 3088 to 1618!

Full GM details SATURDAY

Total cases 1618 - DOWN 5 on Yesterday - when the whole NW was DOWN by 557

Well over under par as GM split of the fall obviously

Wk to wk DOWN 1470 when the NW is DOWN by 3809.

Better than day to day and around par.

BOROUGH / CASES TODAY / V YESTERDAY / V LAST WEEK

BOLTON 129 / DOWN 15 / DOWN 111

BURY 94 / UP 16 / DOWN 128

MANCHESTER 300 / DOWN 12 / DOWN 224

OLDHAM 159 / UP 2 / DOWN 79

ROCHDALE 142 / UP 2 / DOWN 124

SALFORD 173 / DOWN 9 / DOWN 119

STOCKPORT 148 / DOWN 35 / DOWN 181

TAMESIDE 130 / DOWN 14 / DOWN 120

TRAFFORD 158 / UP 59 / DOWN 51

WIGAN 185 / UP 1 / DOWN 331

Bury under 100 again and Manchester the lowest high in a while on exactly 300 with nobody else as high as 200. Best day in a while fir a spread of numbers.

Some extraordinarily high week to week falls. Not seen so many in one go. In seven days Wigan down 331 is unprecedented in one go,

And seven other boroughs down by a three figure total - even Stockport down 181. ~

GM Weekly Pop Scores have had a great day as you will see later.

Stockport gained Pop Score points on Trafford reversing a recent run by Trafford - who clearly had the worst day but even they were well down on last week too,

But you cannot spin this any way other than a very good day for GM.
