Delph is a fit athlete who enjoys the best possible medical treatment money can buy. He won't be queueing up in A and E anytime soon. His chances of getting seriously ill from Covid must be very remote but until some sort of community immunity is built up in the general population many other people will not be safe from this virus. And that can't be achieved without the help of younger healthier people being vaccinated. Of course Delph is free to make his decision just as I am free to call him a selfish twat.I’m not at all surprised by this. The lack of vaccine uptake in the NFL and Djokovic’ past remarks has me wondering just how many athletes and individuals in sports have even bothered to get the jab. It seems awfully quiet within the premier league and football. Apart from Gareth Southgate, none have come out to advocate the vaccine which is odd given the platform they have and their ability to engage with younger people.
I can see this becoming an issue in the next month. Unfortunately, I doubt Delph is alone.
He will be if he tries getting into Wembley
Ye you're still protected but I think they're worried it doesn't reduce transmission.Does that mean that vaccinated person doesn't get seriously ill themselves, but spreads the virus just the same as a non-vacced person? Surely that's sensible till we reach those percentages of fully vacced people and of course the herd immunity for the small percentage that will never have it
