Three nation cases today are 3233 - last week it was 2735. So is edging up weekly now quite clearly.

England last week added 21 , 735 to total 24, 470

Yesterday England added 25, 877 to the TWO nation total of (by chance also 2735) - it was 2 nation as no Wales data is released on Saturdays - so that 3 nation score yesterday was :- 28, 612

So pretty unlikely we are not looking at another - hopefully small - wk to wk increase today.

Have a read of this for a bit of perspective about variants. They really have turned into the bogeyman thanks to their use in goverment messaging.

One of th AZ creators has also said the same thing, that the chances of a variant occuring that rendered the vaccines impotent is not realistic as it would require a mutation so drastic as to make the virus itself inactive.

Anyone shown Marvin this?

39 all settings deaths - down week to week from 65 is good news.

27, 429 cases - also down from yesterday by 1583 (but no Wales data Sundays means only a few hundred really).

And up on last week by 2959. Slightly up on the week to week rise yesterday.

But all in all not too bad today.

Edging up week to week only.

Not a particularly good day in Greater Manchester by the early looks of it

Every single borough up week to week - even Bolton back over 100 rises weekly today.

Manchester did best - by going up only 2. Stockport the worst - up 45 on last week.

Only Oldham was down on last Sunday at all - by 10 and still over 100.

Just one day. Hopefully better tomorrow, Cases can jump about like this.

Regionally the North West FELL by all of 6 today. One of the lowest falls.

Whilst GM actually went UP by 121 on yesterday.

So obviously not good.

But small numbers involved, Might just be data flow and tomorrow GM may catch up. We will see.

Week to week the NW is UP by 98. Whilst GM is up 148 week to week - so more than the entire NW.

Again small numbers - but no way to spin that positively other than hope it reverses tomorrow, As it may if data flow is the reason.

Either way it is safe to say the falls of a week ago are over and at best the NW and GM are flat.

And as Ayrshire has noted on the urban areas of Scotland potentially showing signs of a small rise up.

As of now not a big deal. If it does not become a trend and escalate.

Not there yet though.

Cases across the regions:

Change in last 24 hrs V seven days ago

SOUTH

East DOWN 232 to 2167 V 2084

London DOWN 236 to 3662 V 3121

South East DOWN 271 to 3345 V 2912

South West DOWN 184 to 2695 V 2328

EVERY REGION DOWN ON DAY AND UP ON LAST WEEK AGAIN

MIDLANDS

East UP 46 to 2450 V 2028

West UP 208 to 2793 V 1921

More rises for here and up week to week more than average

COMBINING THESE TWO INTO ONE AS THE NHS DOES TOTALS 5243 - STILL THE LARGEST REGION

NORTH

North East DOWN 290 to 957 V 1035 - Still falling well and down week to week.

Yorkshire DOWN 567 to 2661 V 2818 - Biggest fall in a while here and down week to week now too.

NE & YORKSHIRE as Zoe and the NHS combines these two for the hospital data and this is now well below the Midlands and not even the second biggest area with 3618 cases. London has more.

AND

NORTH WEST DOWN 6 to 3037 V 2939

Not a great day here. Low fall and up week to week when other regions are down.

Past weeks NW numbers are 2939 - 2451 - 2265 - 3195 - 3608 - 3456 - 3043 - 3037

Equivalent NW numbers a week earlier 3464 -3281 - 2683 - 2999 - 3588 - 3373 - 3311 - 2939

Look at the week to weeks above:-

DOWN 525 - DOWN 830 - DOWN 418 - UP 196 - UP 20 - UP 83 - DOWN 268 - UP 98

PRETTY FLAT IN RECENT DAYS BUT TENDING UP

GM numbers in past week 1160 - 906 - 901 - 1279 - 1486 - 1452 - 1187 - 1308

GM numbers week before 1410 - 1330 - 1068 - 1251 - 1381 - 1331 - 1402 - 1160

Wk to wk :-

DOWN 250 - DOWN 424 - DOWN 167 - UP 28 - UP 105 - UP 121 - DOWN 215 - UP 148

Today is either a blip or the start of an upward trend for GM. Fingers crossed the first.

Total in GM from the NW cases Total 43.1%. It was 39,0% yesterday and 39.5% a week ago

AS expected a jump up today.
