Total cases 1157 - DOWN 151 on Yesterday - The whole NW was DOWN by 160

So a much better day here for GM v NW.

Wk to wk UP 251 when the NW is UP 426

Not that good as it s well over 50% so above the expected share of the rise.

Mixed day but GM trend is upward.

BOROUGH / CASES TODAY / V YESTERDAY / V LAST WEEK

BOLTON 67 / DOWN 36 / UP 3

BURY 53 / DOWN 41 / DOWN 4

MANCHESTER 260 / UP 1 / UP 74

OLDHAM 103 / DOWN 8 / UP 8

ROCHDALE 90 / DOWN 6 / UP 13

SALFORD 121 / DOWN 47 / UP 18

STOCKPORT 166 / UP 14 / UP 43

TAMESIDE 103 / DOWN 5 / UP 41

TRAFFORD 93 / DOWN 7 / UP 32

WIGAN 101 / DOWN 16 / UP 23

Stockport clearly had the worst day up on both measures, Manchester not good too but barely up day to day.

Greater Manchester

Weekly total cases:-

Bolton 582, Bury 592, Rochdale 633, Tameside 689, Trafford 725, Wigan 794 , Oldham 808, Stockport 979, Salford 1030, Manchester 1938

Everywhere up today except Bury

Bolton stays top - from worst to best rehabilitation now complete post Delta.

Salford back over 1000 with Stockport looking likely to go the same way tomorrow on current numbers.

3 figures for deaths again tomorrow, which should get the headline writers blood flowing……
We do now need to start moving to counting admissions and deaths from Covid not ‘with Covid‘. There are currently multiple outbreaks in hospital and many incidentally testing positive having been admitted for something else which are skewing the figures.

Too many people are starting to making a living out of covid now and any rational analysis of the data is being shut down. It seems like every good news story has to have a caveat inserted in it and every bad news story is the fulfilment of one of a dozen negative prophecies made.

I do worry that huge segments of society will be forever scarred by being on a perpetual war footing for the last 18 months - we have to continue with the vaccination path and keep pursuing the anti viral route which I suspect may be the end game for this pandemic. Oh and for god's sake please set up some international body which has teeth to learn from the mistakes we have made as a planet for the next global event, it's the bloody least we owe to the millions that have passed and have suffered economically, socially and mentally from this shit show.

GM Weekly Pop Data:~

Borough / Pop Today / 7 days ago / up or down wk to wk/ Testing is % of local population who have tested positive for Covid over past year.

As ever with Pop going up is bad, going down good - the higher the number the better or worse depending on direction moving. The Pop is total cases in past week versus 100,000 POPulation to even out the comparison versus size and expected cases based on numbers living there.

Bury 329 / 280 / UP 49 Testing positive 12.9%

Oldham 310 / 331 / DOWN 2` Testing positive 13.9%

Stockport 305 / 291 / UP 14 Testing positive 10 6%

Trafford 295 / 271 / UP 24 Testing positive 10.7%

Manchester 278 / 343 / DOWN 65 Testing positive 13.9%

Tameside 272 / 281 / DOWN 9 Testing positive 11.7%

Rochdale 209 / 287 / DOWN 78 Testing positive 13.6%

Salford 197 / 414 / DOWN 217 Testing positive 13.4%

Bolton 169 / 205 / DOWN 36 Testing positive 13.5%

Wigan 161 / 259 / DOWN 98 Testing positive 13.0%

Stockport's bad run goes on as it climbs back over 300 and heading toward Bury whose weekly Pop Score is going the other way.

Wigan still best in GM and Salford rising but still under 200 just though Salford will adjust up big in a few days when the population change from last Thursday is gone abs the impact of that lowering its numbers vanishes.

Wigan though has really turned it around big - following Bolton's lead.

Stockport up by 56 now 10, 603. Another highest increase in GM from here. Something that hardly ever happens with SK in normal times. Now rattling through the 10 K club,

Trafford had a much better day and up just 39 - taking it onto 10, 679.

So Stockport's lead for the best overall Pop Score across the pandemic was decimated by 17 today - visible evidence that it really was a bad day for SK.

Taking Trafford to just 76 behind Stockport for best overall Pop Score. We were here only couple of weeks back but that time Stockport carved into and overtook Trafford's lead. This nip and tuck has been going on since day 1 of the pandemic between these two closely matched boroughs.

Rochdale up 41 - to 13, 610.

But Bolton again had the lowest rise in GM with its Pop Score up by just 23 - taking it up to 13, 491.

Bury up 28 today - just behind - up to 12, 901. Another two or three days from the 13 K club,

Manchester up 47 same as yesterday - to 13, 958
.
Oldham up 43 - to 13, 976 cutting its lead on Manchester as highest Pop in GM to 18.

Both could well enter the 14 K club - as GMs first representatives - as early as tomorrow.

Salford is up 46 to 13, 456.

Tameside up 46 too onto 11, 722

And Wigan still doing well - up just 31 -Finally making it into the 13 K club - delayed by days as it has been doing so well - on 13, 016.

Tragic for his family.
Sadly it won’t change the views of many of the idiotic anti-vaxxers who will continue to talk absolute shite about the dangers of the vaccine and that there’s another side of the story that the “MSM” won’t tell. The Mail comments section is full of the idiots. The only thing that seems to change their minds is actually catching it and being seriously ill.
