Sadly haven't a clue.

Hoping it's just a bounce as everything reopens, and settles before too long. Probably got another few weeks of growth before that happens with schools only just back though.

My best guess is just a mixture of everything really. Football matches, nightclubs, increased socialising in general, people taking tests rather than isolating after being named as a close contact probably another factor to consider.

What I'm absolutely certain of is that regardless of what's actually causing it, schools will be getting the full blame of it this time next week.
Know young people who went to a gig in Glasgow last weekend, notified Monday someone who’d attended had been infected, isolated but by midweek all positive.

Festival in Edinburgh, pubs showing football all weekend, and fewer tempted abroad on summer holidays, but you’re right, they’ll blame schools returning and then universities.

Horrendous if this doesn’t make the fuckwits get the jab we are truly fucked

I'm not anti-vaccine whatsoever, and will be getting my second jab soon, but it's extremely rare for a child that young to become that ill from catching covid. Most kids show little to no symptoms.

She likely has some kind of preexisting condition that makes her more vulnerable, but her vulnerability would still exist even once every single adult was double jabbed. Kids her age aren't being vaccinated and fully vaccinated adults are still catching and transmitting the virus, they're just getting less seriously ill from it.

I'm genuinely not even sure what you can do for children like her, besides obviously care for her if she catches the virus and becomes seriously ill. The only way we prevent things like that are via near permanent state of lockdowns until we reach zero cases, and maintain that, or she isolates indefinitely.

That's until it becomes clear the vaccines are safe for the youngest children though of course, either way, no way to live.
