Wow - just found out 11 of 14 now from
Exes Christmas gathering and the only 3 not to get it 2 allready has it and one suspects allready has it. Interesting. Shows how contagious it is?

1. We don’t make the vaccine here in any useful numbers.
2. It is well documented by medical staff that we only have enough people to administer the vaccine at the current rate.

Point 1. Astra Zeneca currently have four million doses in vials with fifteen million doses awaiting decanting. They have reiterated that by mid January they will be producing a minimum of two million doses a week. Pfizer have also confirmed that more deliveries are in the pipeline.

Point 2. From Monday the Oxford vaccine will be being delivered by many times more locations than the Pfizer vaccine is now. There is a world of difference between delivery as one needs to be in a cold chain at minus 78C and the other at normal fridge temperature.

Wales first up today.

Technically two days update but when that happened at Christmas most of the second day data came the next day not the day after. So tomorrow may be higher too.

2764 cases (v 2237 last Saturday)

From 14, 816 tests. Big % positive there not much under 20%.

70 deaths (v 35 last Saturday)

It isnt about that for me. It's about us fucking with the dosing routines, against Pfizer's advice, rushing to try and vaccinate a whole country while a new strain is absolutely rife everywhere with very little in place to try and stop it. I get a very horrible sinking feeling we're going to create the perfect conditions for a vaccine escaping variant, and that feeling is based on countless reputable experts warning the same. Fucking hell I hope they're wrong.
You are a glass half empty sort of guy though!

Hopefully that won’t happen, I’m confident in the MHRA & JVCI making the right decisions.

It is a gamble. And may pay off. We all must really hope it does or we are in a huge mess.

But it is one I am pretty sure they would not be making if there were enough supplies coming in faster or they had not let this rapid spreading mutation get out of control.

True, if we had a large supply of it I’m sure we would be sticking to the original dosage times.

Desperate times and all that..

Its not about being glass half empty. The facts are simple, they just cant get enough doses to roll out a full vaccination campaign in the space of a few months. Not with the health system being already over run. This will still be here in the summer time as the SAGE group suggest. This is going to be the biggest roll out in history and we just are not set up for that, in fact no where is. Also the vaccine isn't making you immune to the virus, it just means the chance of death fall's to very low levels. You can still catch it and infect other's after the jab. I know everyone is slating the government. But its one huge job that lots of people are underestimating. we are not going to touch the majority of the UK population until mid to late summer, and thats if everything runs exactly to plan, and the fact they are changing the dose dates suggests its far from going to plan

In the week before Christmas some London boroughs were apparently testing at 25% positive thanks to how far the new strain had spread.

This is coming to your area soon unfortunately.

Whether they are aiming for herd immunity or it is just an accident of delay at this rate it might happen and even beat the vaccine towards it - with a terrible cost, of course.

Some real negative people on this thread. It won’t last forever. Fact every fucker is getting it means less to catch it. The way I see it is every day say 80,000 probably getting it, 50,000 a day getting vaccine! That’s 130k a day less at risk.
