GM AS A PERCENTAGE OF NORTH WEST CASES

TODAY 36.2% UP FROM 35.2% YESTERDAY - Getting worse every day now v rest of region

HOWEVER ALSO WELL UP FROM 31.5% LAST WEEK

GM is struggling a little compared to other parts of the NW such as Merseyside that are falling.

GREATER MANCHESTER SCOREBOARD

TOTAL CASES 1155 - DOWN 60 FROM YESTERDAY.

NORTH WEST DOWN 273 TO 3279 - FALL A BIT UNDER EXPECTATION FOR GM BUT WAS A FALL

VERSUS LAST WEEK GM WAS THEN 1206 - SO DOWN 51.

NORTH WEST FELL BY 423 WEEK TO WEEK FROM 3702.

SO GM FALL IS WELL BELOW EXPECTATION HERE TODAY

STOCKPORT 225 - UP 31 on day & UP 46 wk to wk.Bad day obviously! Pop Score up 76 today. Back to highest in GM. But Trafford scored just 55 today so - after a couple of good days - the gap to them for best overall Pop Score increased a lot to 93. At this rate SK will be in the 14 K club next week. POP SCORE 13, 309

WIGAN 173 - UP 21 on day & UP 34 wk to wk. Pop score up 53 today. POP SCORE 15, 166

TAMESIDE 154 - UP 11 on day & DOWN 6 wk to wk - A less good day here too. Pop Score up by 68 - second most in GM today. But - unlike Stockport - today's weekly fall stops it going over 500 weekly Pop Score. POP SCORE 14, 622

MANCHESTER 153 - UP 30 on day & UP 21 wk to wk. Pop Score up 28 - less good day but stlll low for the city. POP SCORE 15, 938

TRAFFORD 130 - DOWN 10 on day & UP 16 Wk to wk - Pop score of 55 gained 21 huge points off Stockport today. Overall Pop Score across the pandemic is now 93. POP SCORE 13, 216

SALFORD 125 - UP 35 on day & UP 25 wk to wk. Pop Score up 48. POP SCORE 15, 792

BOLTON 86 - UP 17 on day & DOWN 46 wk to wk - Bolton Pop Score up 30 . POP SCORE 15, 234

OLDHAM 79 - DOWN 6 on day & UP 4 Wk to Wk. Pop Score up 33 and now 216 ahead of Manchester for highest overall GM pop score. POP SCORE 16, 154

BURY 61 - DOWN 7 on day & UP 6 wk to wk. Pop score here up 32 POP SCORE 14, 903

ROCHDALE 55 - DOWN 36 on day & DOWN 20 wk to wk. According to Zoe worse than Stockport. Ummmm back to the drawng board Tim. Pop Score up 25 - best in GM yet again
. POP SCORE 15, 452

GM boroughs weekly past 7 day case totals:

Bury 485, Rochdale 497, Oldham 718 , Bolton 728 , Salford 792, Trafford 1070, Tameside 1094, Wigan 1142, Manchester 1159, Stockport 1485

At the right end of the table Bury back on top but Rochdale close.

At the wrong end of the table Stockport back up big and Manchester up by less were down much so Stockport's lead increased again to 326 - highest ever above Manchester. Revealing very clearly who is the problem in GM right now.

Tameside and Wigan stay over 1000 and Trafford joined them today. Indeed the way Manchester is performing Wigan could easily go above the city in the next day or two.

Hard to rememember that before this turnaround Machester was well over 1000 ahead of everyone else. At one stage nearer 2000. Such has been the remarkable change in GMs biggest borough.

GM WEEKLY POP SCORES

Remember low scores good - going down good - high scores bad - going up bad

BOROUGH // POP SCORE TODAY // POP SCORE LAST WEEK // UP OR DOWN BY LAST 7 DAYS

Also WAS 4 weeks ago (up/down in past month)

MANCHESTER 209 // 212 //DOWN 3 WAS 284 (down 75)

ROCHDALE 223 // 223 // LEVEL WAS 280 (down 57)

BOLTON 252 // 234 // UP 18 WAS 252 (LEVEL)

BURY 254 // 250 // UP 4 WAS 294 (down 40)

SALFORD 302 // 263 // UP 39 WAS 331 (down 29)

OLDHAM 303 // 274 // UP 29 WAS 240 (up 63)

WIGAN 346 // 274 // UP 72 WAS 262 (UP 84)

TRAFFORD 451 // 350 // UP 101 WAS 318 (UP 133)

TAMESIDE 482 // 391 // UP 91 WAS 413 (UP 69)

STOCKPORT 504 // 384 // UP 120 WAS 354 (UP 150)

Stockport had another poor day and finally crashed into the 500s - the firt time ever for here and the first time since lst winter anywhere in GM has.

This used to be the red flag that led to special measures. Probably will not be now as cases are far less important than they were. But Stockport has never been in this position before and the media are silent - despite it being now above where Bolton was in late Spring when Delta arrived. Would be worth finding out what is going wrong v the other boroughs doing so much better.

Tameside fell today, Trafford went up but Stockport needs to turn this around soon. For two weeks Zoe has had it flat and high. And its cases match that prediction just under or just over 200 which is well over expectation here. BUt stading out mostly as the rest of GM are largely well below exectations. The weekly cases total shows this most clearly. Hundreds ahead of everyone else in GM is unchartered territory.

Manchester rose and Rochdale fell so they got closer together but the city is still the best in GM on pretty much every measure though nobody in GM seems to want to go below 200 and in fact most rose today and there are more in the 300s now than heading for the 100s.

Still a gap of 295 - UP by 11 - between Manchester and Stockport top to bottom is the most it has been.

In the Mid Winter wave when Stockport got the closest to topping 500 before but never did all 10 GM boroughs were separated by nothing like 295. It was not even 95. That is why something unusual is going on in Stockport which someone needs to understand. Why has it been so much worse there for so long?

It stands out as in the Spring when Bolton was in all the headlines and came near topping 500 Stockport was the lowest borough in GM and one of the lowest in the UK for most of that time. Its Pop Score then was tiny and got as low as 12. One of the smallest in GM ever during the pandemic. FRom 12 to 504 is a big switch.

Well thank goodness that's over and done with.

For those that haven't had it yet......I only started to get better on about day 8 of 10. Although I felt better in myself, I then broke out into a chicken pox/shingles type rash which affected me from the waist down. Boy that was as itchy as anything I've ever had and then like a miracle on day 10 the rash was gone and I felt normal again with the sense of smell and taste returning. Hope I never have to go through that again that's for sure.
I’m on day 8 of my isolation and from running a 1hr 40min half marathon 3 weeks ago to not being able to get out of bed is truly shocking. The fatigue has been the worst part for me, slowly but surely I am starting to come round but the lack of taste and smell is horrendous. Fingers crossed it returns ASAP as food and drink are one of life’s pleasures. Double jabbed and consider myself fit and healthy

TODAY'S UPDATE

RATHER WORRYING HUGE RISES TODAY SADLY

Predicted cases are

UP TO 58, 126 FROM 55, 710 a rise of of 2416 after rises of 2118, 2658, 683, 2306 in the days before.

It WAS 46, 300 last week - a RISE week to week of 11, 826 after a rise of 11, 133 yesterday and previous day of 9852.

THIS IS NOW ALMOST BACK TO THE HIGHEST IT HAS BEEN

Ongoing symptomatic cases UP too and by an even bigger sudden leap upwards-

FROM 670, 505 TO 708, 590 A RISE of 38, 085 in 24 hours - after ones of 4204 and 2654 previous days following FALLS of 717,1399, 3489 in the days before that.

IT WAS 659, 252 last week. A weekly RISE of 49, 338 - a GIGANTIC ONE DAY INCREASE - after one of 7794 yesterday and from weekly falls of 5392, 4562, 16, 521, and 36, 638 in previous days.

WELL AND TRULY SHIFTED DIRECTION NOW IN A RATHER SUDDEN MANNER

There is always a lag to the change in ongoing cases after a rise or fall in daily case numbers as ongoing cases persist and are not just counted on the day of first report.

WALES DATA

9 deaths - was 10 last week

3369 cases - was 2485 last week - sadly big rise here to one of the highest single day numbers yet

12.6% positivity - was 10.1% last week

494 patients - was 532 last week

45 ventilated - was 47 last week

BIG CASES NOT CREATING BIG HOSPITAL PROBLEMS STILL BUT RISING NUMBERS WILL INEVITABLY TRANSLATE TO SOME DEGREE IF THEY SPREAD FROM THE YOUNGER AGE GROUP MOSTLY CATCHING IT

BUT IN THE LATEST DATA FROM WALES THE SPLIT IN CASES BY AGE SHOWS IN A WEEK 8480 WERE UNDER 25 AND 2082 OVER 60. THAT IS LESS DRAMATIC A DIFFERENCE THAN IN NORTHERN IRELAND BUT IS A DIFFERENCE

MORE SIGNIFICANTLY THE UNDER 25s WERE UP 229 ON THE PREVIOUS WEEK AND THE OVER 60s DOWN 44

THE POSITIVITY RATE WAS ALSO 18.4% FOR THE UNDER 25s AND 12.2% FOR THE OVER 60s.

HOWEVER IN THE TWO WORST AREAS - NEATH PORT TALBOT AND SWANSEA WHERE CASE RATES ARE HIGHEST IN WALES THE SPLIT IS (UNDER 25) 23.7% SWANSEA & 24.3% NEATH PORT TALBOT & (OVER 60s) IN THOSE TWO PLACES 15.9% & 15.4% RESPECTIVELY.

ZOE APP DATA

TODAYS DATA

REGIONS:-

AS YOU MIGHT EXPECT FROM THE BIG RISE IN CASES NO GOOD NEWS HERE EITHER BUT WITH A SILVER LINING

North West drops 2 places to sixth though still in the upper watch zone - but NW actually FELL today - very slightly as it was.

NORTH WEST DOWN to 883 / 1165 FROM 885 / 1167

UP TOP:-

THERE ARE SIX NOW IN THE HIGHEST WATCH ZONE

WALES STILL FIRST and UP significantly as the real cases today above support on 1130 / 1559 FROM 1059 / 1473 - Well clear of the others in the upper watch zone

EAST MIDLANDS rockets into second place from outside the upper watch zone in sixth yesterday UP by even more today on 938 / 1272 FROM 846 / 1164 yesterday & FROM 778 / 1083 two days ago.

THIS MATCHES THE REAL DATA AS OVER PAST DAYS EAST MIDLANDS HAS GONE WELL UP AND BEEN MATCHING THE MUCH MORE POPULATED NORTH WEST FOR CASES AND EVEN BEATING IT ONCE.

YORKSHIRE is in third and UP on Zoe rising again today. Just behind East Midlands on 927 / 1255 FROM 901 / 1225

NORTH EAST also moves UP after entering the upper zone 2 days ago and is now fourth ahead of the NW after its cases have gone up for real lately too. UP to 833 / 1321 FROM 789 / 1264

NORTHERN IRELAND falls to fifth though also UP on 605 / 1654 FROM 577 / 1613

HAPPILY THE NW BUCKED THIS TREND AND FELL TO SIXTH SO DROPPED RIGHT DOWN BELOW ALL OF THE ABOVE

THERE ARE NOW JUST TWO REGIONS IN THE MIDDLE WATCH ZONE

And SCOTLAND in seventh is DOWN today too - on 718 / 1015 FROM 721 / 1017

And moving up a zone into here from the lower one is

WEST MIDLANDS in eighth is UP by the biggest rise on 710 / 1004 FROM 666 / 950

I suspect it will join its neighbour in the upper watch too as it has been above North West in the real cases for the past few days too.

THE LOWER WATCH ZONE NOW CONTAINS ONLY THE SOUTHERN REGIONS - THE GEOGRAPHICAL SPLIT NORTH/SOUTH NOW TOTAL MUCH AS IN THE REAL CASE DATA - THOUGH MOST PLACES ARE GOING UP A LOT EVEN HERE

AT THE BOTTOM (AS IN BEST IN UK) ARE THE SOUTHERN REGIONS:-

SOUTH EAST is now BEST in the UK again BUT rsing also UP on 601 / 745 FROM 581 / 722

SOUTH WEST UP BIG on 594 / 788 FROM 539 / 72

EAST moves above London today edging up UP on 622 / 821 FROM 607 / 803

LONDON is now closest to going up a zone but some way from it as yet UP on 627 / 820 FROM 579 / 764

So all the southern regions some way back of the rest of the UK but also going UP

INDEED TODAY ONLY SCOTLAND AND THE NORTH WEST FELL ON THIS DAY OF BIG RISING NUMBERS ON ZOE
