Check out the England and UK hospital data posted in here last night. I post them every evening for the England regions and the four nations and post patients and ventilators for each nation in the afternoon as they are updated - I think ventilators is the closest to seriously ill.

NW is going up in these. Most other places falling. There are around that number you cite so that is likely it. Though if it relies on Gov UK it will be 1 or 2 days out of date.

I post changes daily but England had 665 yesterday and around 800 when the other nations were added.

It is hard to be accurate as Gov UK is often late with data from Wales in particular. But they have only small numbers so never far out.
Many thanks Healdplace for the detailed response and will do.

Do you obtain data for ICU as well as ventilators.

ONS weekly Friday study of Covid prevalence shows the numbers are UP in England very slightly but DOWN in Scotland.

About 940,000 people in UK are estimated to have Covid.

Pretty similar to the Zoe numbers yesterday before they changed them downward again today!

School ages 7 to 11 are the biggest rise.

Other ages falling still including children 12 up though only slowly.

The other slight increase is in ages 35 - 49 - believed to be because these are parents of the schoolkids who are bringing it home.

Thank you but there are differences in definition on numbers posted in icu and ventilated so I stick to beds which are icu and have ventilators as these are where the sickest patients tend to be in each nation.

I imagine in the links you were posted earlier on Gov UK you can dig deeper and each nation tends to publish more detail on their own daily release.

The Northern Ireland one is really good and has 42 pages of detailed data on pretty much everything and updated Mon - Fri but not at weekend as most of the nations are not.

Link to N Ireland here

127 all settings deaths - exactly the same as last Friday - which means out of hospital numbers are rising in England like in N Ireland.

Indeed England UP from 80 last week to 109 today and just 70 of that 109 in hospital so 39 out of hospital deaths is a BIG jump up.

HOPE THEY ARE NOT HAVING A CARE HOME FLARE UP LIKE THE DATA IN N IRELAND IS HINTING

THIS HAS BEEN MY FEAR ALL WEEK AS NORTH WEST PROPORTION OF DEATHS AND VENTILATOR NUMBERS STARTED TO RISE.

THIS WAS INEVITABLY GOING TO BE A BIG RISK AND SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN QUIETLY FORGOTTEN AMIDST THE IDEA THAT ONLY SCHOOLKIDS ARE CATCHING IT SO CASES DO NOT MATTER.

THEY ASSUREDLY DO IF THEY ARE CARE HOME OUTBREAKS

36, 060 cases

NO WALES DATA TODAY DUE TO THE IT CRASH

Still down even without it though.

That's interesting. Obviously we're still doing worse than we should. But it kind of insinuates that the likes of Spain and Italy (and to a lesser extent Portugal, France and Germany) aren't doing enough testing.

The other thing to consider is whether we're all recording deaths the same way. I'd imagine in the UK we're including all deaths WITH COVID whereas countries like Germany are probably recording deaths OF covid.

England cases down only 1148 from yesterday on 32, 157.

It was 28, 836 last Friday - so a week to week rise in England of 3321

And there will be at least 2000 or so cases from Wales to add over the weekend once they find the shilling for the meter to fix the IT issue.

Oh and 105K FEWER pillar 1 & 2 tests than yesterday today too. And 77K fewer than last Friday.

So positivity will be up.

I guess we can say though that the rise could have been worse.

GM SUMMARY

As you might have had money on - one step back again for Stockport after good days. UP today on yesterday and last week by some way and though Trafford still had a worse day and lost another 32 Pop Score points to SK they FELL as Stockport rose and at 276 Trafford was only 29 ahead of Stockport - not 81 as yesterday.

Manchester on exactly 200 the only other one not in the 100s. And that is down day to day AND down (all be it by just 1!) week to week.

All 10 boroughs over 100 cases today also.

Only Oldham down (by 9) was also down week to week. The other 8 all up.

Most small numbers but Trafford (up 79), Wigan (up 60) and Stockport (up 49) week to week will have big rises in their Pop Scores again.

Cheers Healdplace.

NORTH WEST NUMBERS

Sadly the GM performance today was sigificantly worse than the rest of the NW so GM back to being the main driver of the numbers in the region unfortunately.

North West is DOWN today by 236. But GM only falls by 43 to 1641.

That is a very low split of the fall but smallish numbers so minimal damage.

However, week to week, always more important, NW is up 338 to 4507.

Unfortunately GM is up 243 of that 338 - well over the odds and again making them the main reason for the rise.

Of course, these numbers do fluctuate day to day according to the testing back from labs etc so....

Hope for better tomorrow.
