52,009 cases!

Most since 17 July.

115 all settings deaths - significantly down from 157 last week.

It was 135 just on the numbers without out of hospital England

Which makes no sense so I am not trusting it right now.

Interesting that I read there are 20 European countries in worse positions than Sweden at the moment, who barely had any restrictions throughout. Natural immunity with the vaccines making them fare better?

England cases today 44, 363 - UP 2865 on yesterday & UP 5875 on last Thursday.

UK cases up 2870 from 49, 139 yesterday & UP 6943 on last week

It's completely untrue they have barely had any restrictions throughout. They were slow to impose them at first but after that they were not dissimilar to the rest of Europe. They only even opened their border to UK travellers this month. It was only on the 1st of this month that they lifted government advice to not travel abroad which had been in place for 18 months.

England deaths showing today as 66 when 88 were announced just from hospital in England earlier. As posted couple of pages back in detail. Bit odd.

Am guessing they have deleted some deaths after a review.

Sweden had plenty of restrictions throughout, and had less infections or deaths than us. Whatever it is, infection acquired immunity it ain't.

(it's most likely some combination of higher and more recent vaccinationhigh compliance with voluntary restrictions/ recommendations, strong social security support for isolating, strong health care provision)

Although not with all cause excess death data, which suggests that countries are counting this very differently.

This has been studied many times before and I've provided references before showing that the reported deaths for developed western countries are very much comparable. Its a red herring.

NORTH WEST AND GM SUMMARY

NW falls on the day by 416 to 4993

GM falls on days by 151 of that to 1767

This is around what GM is scoring as a percetage of NW so OK,

Week to week NW FALLS by 329 from 5322.

BUT unfortunately GM is UP week to week by 105.

No way to sell that as good news. Clearly other parts of the region fell today as GM rose.

Within Greater Manchester Manchester and Stockport were both up week to week - Manchester by 42 to 268 - though that is well down day to day - and Stockport UP on both measures on 245 - up 5 on the day and 27 week to week.

Bury was up 40 week to week on 122. And that was the lowest GM score today.

Oldham up 33 week to week too on 123

Salford falls the most week to week by 52 to 139.

Tameside up the most by 43 to 192 and Wigan were down by 34 on 179.

Trafford fell 39 on the day to 202 which is just 1 down week to week.

AS a result Trafford top pop scored - JUST - up 85. Tameside equalled it on 85. And Stockport took just 1 point back on Trafford on 84. Making its lead over the pandemic above Trafford for lowest Pop Score now 315.
