A serious virus doubling every 3 days is extremely bad news, whether it's summer or winter.

The hope was that the much higher vaccination status in the UK would reduce the rate.

If it doesn't kill you and just gives millions a bit of a rough few days it could get us much closer to the end of all this quickly. Lets hope so.

It’s pretty obvious by now that vaccines don’t stop you catching or passing it on.

It certainly seems that their effect is much reduced in that regard. The Norway reports (Norway has a very high vax rate) suggests they are still very effective vs severe disease.

But what if it does hospitalise and kill loads?

we just dont know yet either way.

If its twice as transmissible, it needs to be half as virulent to be the same impact on the NHS as Delta is right now.
