Coronavirus (2021) thread

Whole family caught covid back in July. Went with the wife on holiday in October and her two day PCR test came back positive despite no symptoms. She then took two further tests both negative but track and trace kept on calling and insisting she isolate for 10 days. They even called at 7.45 in the morning and wanted me to wake her up! Apparently she shouldn't have taken a PCR test originally as had Covid less than 90 days previously and supposedly this can still show in a PCR test.

So you paid for a two-day PCR test after coming back from holiday and she didn't even need to have one?

Get the money back from her mate!

Maybe she’d had it for a while, been asymptomatic, and the day she tested positive just happened to be the last day it registered via a PCR?

or it could just be a fucked up test.

on the bright side, she’ll be able to travel in the next 180 days without having to pay for a PCR test.

Not sure she will have had it in the ten days prior, as she has to lateral flow most days for work.

As you suggest, we think it was just a fucked up test which caused plenty of anxiety at the start of this week and another Xmas Day on the chopping block.

Probably. As I've just said though, no problem whatsoever with caution, more a problem with those who are telling those that are optimistic that they are wrong and not understanding why some people need a bit of hope. That's not needed.
It’s not just you, Ste. It’s been noticeable for weeks that more and more people are reaching out for some hope/good news.

It’s totally natural and human to do so.

On the flip side, if people are objective or cautious, they are jumped on by these “hopers”.

We‘re all desperate to hear that Omicron is mild and paves the way out of this nightmare.

The only difference is that at the moment you need to cling onto the hope of the two studies you posted, whereas Damo is holding his horses before clinging onto the hope.

Different people react differently and need different things.

Neither is wrong and arguing with people isn’t going to help you, Damo, me or anyone.

Let’s get to the end of Jan and see where we are. Have as normal a Christmas as you safely can do.

We might be 6 weeks away from this being an issue again.
