I assume you mean a pfizer/ Moderna dose on top of two AZ? Almost no-one has had three AZ.

I dont know much about Africa so cant comment too much, but from what Ive read the bigger problem is we are sending them vaccines with short expiry dates, in full knowledge they dont have the same ability to administer them as western nations.

It’s not only Africa, however. There is a problem with supply to other parts of the world, and logistically it is difficult to administer some of these vaccines in remote settings. The inequalities also appear starker when we see pictures of healthy young people queuing to receive their third shot ‘to save Christmas’. Yet Brown’s adopting a sackcloth and ashes approach and making the West feel guilty about not sending enough won’t solve the problem in itself. There are enormous health inequalities and we can do more to improve supply, but there are also other cultural reasons why the vaccines are ending up in tips rather than arms. Not acknowledging and then addressing those reasons won’t help anyone.

Rather guessed that. They’re the elected leaders in their countries and done what they believe is the best for their peoples. I don’t think you’d like Mark Rutte, Mette Frederiksen, or Alexander De Croo either, all of whom have implemented measures far stricter than anything seen anywhere in the UK. I’ve forgotten what the inside of a bar looks like! :-)

To be fair, the likes of the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and many other European mainland countries were already being hit with a huge Delta wave (whereas the UK wasn’t) just as Omicron rocked up so I can understand more why those countries have imposed bigger restrictions.

For the record the Scottish survey says 45% decrease in severity rising to 69% for people who have been double vaccinated and have been ill with Delta. No idea how triple vaccination affects things.
Very good news for the UK with 20m Delta cases. Not as good news for the continent of Europe
