This is always the biggest day of the week as I warned yesterday,

As I say this is actually a more modest increase than it has been of late.

Quite possible the all settings number will be lower than yesterday.

The total is 1185 for the UK without out of hospital England added.

That is only 9 more than the 1176 we had from the 4 nations last Wednesday when the final total was 1564.

It will be another huge number like that today but despite these terrible numbers which may well carry on for a week or so it is possibly pointing toward a plateau.

The numbers are not spread evenly over the week - a factor we have known for months - but often gets missed unless you understand that these are deaths from multiple past days not just yesterday and go up and down because it is often hard to register deaths at weekend so they get held over to Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week.

So it may prove today is the worst ever single day England number.

Let us hope it is and then it is downhill from here. Though likely not as rapidly as happened in April when the cold weather was going away not setting in.

England hospital deaths 3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v Today:- Total / NW Total / NW % of England

494 / 109 NW / 22% - this was a lot of Christmas add ons that NW underreported over the long holidays.

674 / 77 NW / 11% - the normal day to day kind of number NW has been producing for weeks now

1012 / 106 NW / 10%

1027 / 124 NW / 12% Today - so the % is up but not at a concerning level given likely underreporting at weekends.

Just a few quick question:

the doc used a stethoscope on my lungs yesterday & although no pneumonia detected he did say they were rattling with ‘covid crap’. What would this actually be? Mucus? Shedded viruses?

As of this morning I’m actually coughing up mucus for the first time rather than dry
coughing. Feels like a bit of a relief.

England 1027 hospital deaths - other data

Regions:

239 London, 190 Midlands, 170 South East, 148 East, 124 North West, 100 NE & Yorkshire, 56 South West

Age ranges:

20 - 39 (9) 0.9%

40 - 59 (67) 6.5%

60 - 79 (384) 37.4%

80 plus (567) 55.2%

Still no real sign of much change in these age dynamics.

It will still be over 80% of the deaths aged over 70 very probably if we had an even finer split of age bands which we really need.

My mum took my dad for an appointment about his Parkinson’s at Rochdale today, when they went in they got offered the jab! They’ve had it and got a date in March for the next one, happy days.

My missus had hers at the Infirmary there today as well (she's a community nurse before anyone jumps in about queue jumping!). She said it was very well organised and efficient. She has her date for the 2nd dose as well. All very encouraging this stuff.

Here are the latest age range numbers for the Northern Ireland testing positive data today:

Total 5882 cases over past 7 days:

0 - 19 (635) 10.8%

20 - 39 (2085) 35.4%

40 - 59 (1929) 32.8%

60 - 79 (906) 15.4%

80 plus (327) 5.6%

Fluid, white blood cells, and lung cells? Casualties of war! I suspect it means that areas in your respiratory tract which have mucosal cells are inflamed and infected. Keep your spirits up. When it starts to fade you will feel happy!

Always a good sign when this crap starts to come out I find, coincides with me being on the mend on every occasion this happens. Good on ye mate.
