I knew it was tier 4 but the previous poster didnt seem so sure about tiers that is if I read his post correctly so I was trying to word my post it in a polite manner. Dont worry pal I'm not running government or making decisions so I think your safe on that front, it would be pretty difficult not to know what tier you are in, like I say I trying not be rude and shoot someone down. You are entitled to your view as am I. I happen to believe they could have started vacinating with the AZ vaccine 3 days earlier if they had planned things correctly. Its what i would have ensured had i been in Boris's shoes.

Why is discounting hospitals ridiculous. I have had loads of injections in my time and few if any have been in hospitals.

I am surprised at you Kaz in so far as you think a delay, that you cant explain and one which will result in an extra several thousand deaths, is acceptable.

I just , unlike you , understand rolling out mass vaccinations has to be right ,i also understand first hand the difficulties of getting millions to places to be vaccinated that is safe for all , remember everyone is still spreading it around , going for a vaccine does not make you less contageous , do you want to pack into anywhere right now . i wont patronise you but you are clueless and seem in a panic

Absolutely. Indeed my son volunteered to be on one such trial.

But none have proven efficacy to date. It's an interesting possibility, but nothing more.

The study you link to is ongoing, not complete, only a phase 2 study and only in 100 subjects.

Ivermectin is an insecticidal drug (it has structure similar to some antibiotics) that's been around for a long time.

Edit: it says that it's been tried but not in a controlled trial. There is some suggestion that it was beneficial, but in a very small set in Florida, and with the drug administered with some other drugs rather than alone, possibly a 10% benefit. It had also been used in India/Egypt but without citing any detail other than being possibly to a larger number.
Oddly, the introduction of one paper he took a run at looked to say that remdesivir and convalescent plasma were not beneficial (which seems contrasting to other trials, and was not assessed as part of the study).

I think it's one of many attempts made where multiple things have been tried - "if one antiviral looks like it did something, let's try another one and see if it does anything". No-one's done any professional trials, and IMO this could be good or could be hydroxychloroquine all over again.

Really, clueless and in a panic? I just happen to work in a job where are clients expect us to meet tight deadlines in programmes and we plan ahead and ensure we do.

Rather than trying to belittle people why dont you give me the benefit of your experience in rolling out vaccines and explain what has been happening in the last four days since approval?

Come on explain? Also explain what 'science' has to do with loading vaccines onto refridgerated transport and sending it to vaccine centres??

Specifically please explain what has been done the last four days that couldnt have been done the previous four mths in readiness.

I wont hold my breath as i suspect you will do a runner and avoid the questions like you do everytime you get called to explain something in a discussion.
