seriously you need to stop - you just find the most negative article extract you can find and post it.
What, turn this into a "happy clapper" thread?

When I see a "headline" twitter image posted on here I click on it and read the full twitter thread and draw my own conclusions. Posters who aren't capable of doing that may be better off giving this whole covid thread a swerve.

In terms of the twitter thread referred to, it's a small sample size that's been studied but I think it's fair to say that the observed effects merit further and wider studies. This is going to happen all the time with new variants popping up all over the place but I don't see that particular thread as "scaremongering".

The REACT Studay at Imperial College covered 111,000 swab tested people and found that Covid infections increased in the first two weeks of January. The findings suggest people returning to work in the New Year had a bigger impact on infections than Xmas but I don’t think the researchers feel the findings are conclusive on that.

There’s a case for strengthening the restrictions (eg around workplaces) for a time period, rather than weakening them.

The Research Director said infections have levelled off and the R rate is 1 and people need to comply with the rules. 40% to 50% of infected people don’t know they have the virus

Well you are wrong there, I have zero interest in clicking on and reading any Twitter post whatsoever, however that doesn’t stop me being an avid reader of this thread, it’s the most useful there is currently for me.

That's your choice but if you only read the headline image you won't get the full story. I'm not generally a fan of twitter either but some of the covid twitter threads have been very informative. This particular one hasn't come from some QAnon rabbit hole, it's some observations from the South Africa CDC.
