To pose an obvious question why are our figures so high when we have had a lockdown for a few weeks and severe restriction?
I'm puzzled as to how day after day its seemingly getting worse despite the restrictions.
Case figures are still high after 11 days of lockdown because 40%+ of children are still at school.

GM Scoreboard:

1579 - up 410 from 1169. 29.9% of the 1269 NW rise to take the North West Total to 5280. Rise of 0.8% on yesterday

3 wks v 2 wks v last wk v Today:- 1048 v 1583 v 1765 v 1579. Fattening off.

Pop Score is cases across whole pandemic v 100,000 people - rises daily but lower the better.

Weekly Pop is same measure across last 7 days only. Can rise or fall depending on if more cases or less occur today v the same day last week.

Either way Up is bad, down is good.

Manchester 332 – up from 263. Total 42, 823. Weekly 2413. Pop score up 60 to 7746. Weekly Pop down 5 to 437.

Wigan 213 - up from 119. Total cases 23, 416. Weekly 1317. Pop score up 65 to 7125. Weekly Pop up 10 to 401.

Bolton 164 - up from 124. Total cases 20, 237. Weekly 1070. Pop score up 57 to be another borough to enter the 7000 club at 7038. Weekly Pop down 10 to 372.

Stockport 156 – up from 113. Total cases 16, 124. Weekly 1085. Pop score up 53 to 5495. Weekly Pop down 47 to 370. Huge Pop fall as 7 days ago they had that shocking 293 so this was half that!

Salford 142- up from 97. Total cases 18, 410. Weekly 978. Pop score up 55 to 7113. Weekly Pop down 3 to 378.

Trafford 125 - up from 101. Total cases 13, 360. Weekly 846. Pop score up 53 to 5629. Stockport's Pop Score lead stays at 134. Weekly Pop down 2 to 356

Tameside 125 – up from 85 . Total cases 14, 193. Weekly 816. Pop score up 55 to 6266. Weekly Pop up 2 to 380.

Oldham 114 - up from 68. Total cases 19, 045. Weekly 702. Lowest weekly number in GM. Just! Pop score up 48 to finally enter the 8000 club at 8032. Weekly Pop up 3 to 296

Bury 105- up from 89. Total cases 13, 985. Weekly 707. Pop score up 55 to 7322. Weekly Pop down 10 to 370.

Rochdale 103 - down from 110. Total cases 17, 197. Weekly 770. Pop score up 48 to 7732. Shares with Oldham joint lowest Pop rise of the day. Far cry from not that long ago when these two were scoring record high rises. Weekly Pop down 10 to 346.

Only Wigan and Manchester now have a weekly Pop in the 400s after plenty of big week to week falls today

You don’t get anything official at the moment as far as I know.

Cheers, maybe Saga banking on something official being released in the next few months as more and more complete their 2nd dose.

Otherwise, without that it has the potential to get messy for them trying to enforce it.

The last thing they want to rely on is the great British public being honest, as this pandemic has really highlighted how many dicksplashes we have in this country!

Is it giving the ages of those who have passed away recently?
If you look at the England hospital data posted in here every day around 2 pm you can see the numbers and percentage of each age group

Here are today's:

England 1027 hospital deaths - other data

Regions:

239 London, 190 Midlands, 170 South East, 148 East, 124 North West, 100 NE & Yorkshire, 56 South West

Age ranges:

20 - 39 (9) 0.9%

40 - 59 (67) 6.5%

60 - 79 (384) 37.4%

80 plus (567) 55.2%

Thanks. Presumably a lot of the remainder are people in Nursing homes?

Saga cruises - who in their right mind would want to go on a cruise while COVIDS about?

I bet Saga won’t be selling them over 50’s life insurance.

You'd be surprised.

Cruising attracts very loyal passengers, many will be itching to get back out to sea.

Saga laying the groundwork now for a return to action when the vaccine should have been rolled out enough.
Lot of caveats to that and I think their restart date of 1st May is very ambitious and likely to be pushed back, but it's good to see a tour operator making firm plans.

The Italian cruise line MSC completed 9 Covid free Med cruises last summer, believe it or not. Every single passenger and crew member was tested before departure, and port excursions were very restricted (you might have read of a family being kicked off a cruise for leaving their 'excursion bubble')

The thing about cruising that appeals to a lot of people is also it's downfall at the moment; visiting multiple countries on a single itinerary.

Logic would suggest that the first cruises to return to action will have extremely simple itineraries for this year.

Really interesting twitter thread on Israel. Nothing conclusive yet, but it explains why that may be at least.
