I think its a good idea, but how will they know who’s had it ?

Bit of a grey area at the moment; do people get something official on completion of their 2nd jab?

Think it's only being rolled out initially against their ocean cruise product, but given they do a lot of river cruises and escorted touring then I'd expect to see it applied to these other trip types before long.

At the moment they are offering refunds to people who aren't/won't be vaccinated, but it looks like it will be a booking condition going forward.

As with any purchase, you'll tick the box to agree to the Ts and Cs, and if you rock up at the cruise terminal and can't prove you've had the vaccine then you'll likely be thousands out of pocket with little to no chance of recovering the money.

Saga have become the first major tour operator to announce they will only accept clients on trips/cruises that have had both jabs of the vaccine.

Looks to be a sensible decision given their target demographic (even if they have tried to model themselves more towards that 50-60 market in recent years)

I imagine a number of other companies will follow suit, particularly ones that deal in escorted touring and trips of that nature.

A quick glance at comments on the Saga FB page is quite depressing, although I'm sure they are the vocal minority against this decision.
I agree about the jabs mate. By the time of Easter bookings, over 60s should have had the chance of 2 jabs

Sorry. Had attached a screenshot of the English translation, not sure if it worked or not. However, since then, he's tweeted again in English. So here it is.

Thank you lovely

Could also be because getting vaccinated puts you in the same place as loads of other people and you cant be too careful but can easily catch it

Yeah deffo.

It makes perfect sense for them to go down this route, and as mentioned I'm sure more will follow.

Saga only own 2 cruise ships, I think they only hold no more than 1000 passengers each (I work in travel so really should know this haha), they don't own or operate the megasize ships that can have up to 6k on board, so they shouldn't have any problems filling the cabins when their cruises restart.

This decision has undoubtedly ruffled a few feathers, and likely they might lose some long standing customers, but also they will likely gain some new customers drawn to them by this stance.

The social media comments are overwhelmingly negative but I think that's just the vocal minority spewing their tin foil hat shite and complaining about a violation of their hUMaN RIghTs.

It’s a bad day for the vocal minority with Trumpy leaving the White House. I reckon the silent majority will be reassured by the vaccine requirement, like you wrote.

You don’t get anything official at the moment as far as I know.
