I often think what I’d do in those situations. Before I myself caught covid I’d mutter under my breath & give them a good stare.Scenes in my local shop just now: a youngish guy comes in and the woman behind the till tells him he can’t come in without a mask. He says he hasn’t got one so she gives him a disposable and tells him it’s 50p. He refuse to pay then says “I’m exempt”. I was in the queue and couldn’t help saying “No you’re not”. The woman tells him if he doesn’t wear it he isn’t coming in. He then starts shouting “Have you not seen the Australian news? They’re lying to you. It’s all a con..” Before he can carry on the 3 or 4 of us near the counter just shout him down, tell him to shut up and get out and he slinks off. Then when he was gone everyone starts thanking the woman (who works part time there) and telling her she did the right thing.
It was quite heart warming.
After experiencing just how bad it can render you imm it sure I’d be able to hold back when I finally go back out. Undoubtedly confront them...it’s making me angry just thinking about it.
These selfish, daft sods have made me far more authoritarian than I’ve ever been.
