Just watched an item on BBC about people who have nothing wrong with them being able to buy lanyards with badges on saying they are disabled and exempt from wearing a mask.
What's wrong with some people? They are out and about potentially infecting others such as my children and grandchildren.
And people are making money out of this, aided and abetted by Amazon and eBay.

Just heard my auntie Mary has tested positive today. She is 85 and suffers from dementia. Had the vaccine 4 days ago but I think she may have already had it before receiving the vaccine. Can anyone confirm this could be the case?
Very likely and the vaccine would not have been able to stop it within 4 days even if not. Symptoms can take a week or so to start to show.

Good news is that it should mitigate symptoms and could make a big difference to the prognosis.

Certainly much better news that she has had the jab than was still waiting.

I come in peace ...

Always advertising on FB too. Mental. Not sure of the mentality of the people that would buy them

Thanks for that. I sought of thought that but wasn't 100% sure.

My Sister knows them and has told me that one of the grandchildren (a kid) has taken it really badly, worried that she might have been the one who took the virus round there that killed her Nan. She probably had no say at all and was probably just told she was going round there, because, “nobody’s telling my kids can’t see their Nan at Christmas”.

Absolutely ridiculous. Poor kid. When people ask why we have done so badly compared to the rest of Europe etc, tell them those countries don't have half as many selfish dick heads and actually care about the health and well being of their elderly.

I don’t disagree with your logic, but I don’t think they’ve ever vaccinated based on cases. Otherwise London and kent would have had a larger share in the first few weeks. And they had less, as their demographic suggested they had less 80+ year olds than other places.

The distribution is still disproportionate.

Possibly one of the issues with London is the likely higher proportion of non English speaking patients (if we class Yorkshire speak as English). Making contact with them and arranging an appointment may be that more difficult. You also have issues with vaccine take up among some BAME communities. Of course, London has a much more sizeable proportion of BAME than anywhere else in the UK. If I get a chance, I will ask our Director of Public Health and ask him his thoughts.

We had a discussion in a work social about vaccinations. Out of around 10 of us, no-one knows of any over 70s down here who have had a vaccination. Yet most of those we know have underlying conditions. Yet I know of people in their 60s up north with no underlying conditions who have been vaccinated.

It was never going to be delivered equitably due to the complexity. However, down here we are not crying about a North-South divide.

Crazy, isn’t it. These people think it’s so uncool to wear a mask, but are quite happy to wear a disability lanyard. Beyond me....

Turns into a good week after all for Greater Manchester.

Apologies if already posted but the sheer level of ‘MAGNA CARTA’ fuckwittery on show here is off the scale. Conspiracy nuts and social media snake oil merchants are literally killing people. God knows doctors and nurses have enough on their plates without dealing with this level of dangerous stupidity
