You should tell the CEO of Astrazeneca that because just a few days ago he was on the news confirming that they would be delivering 2m doses per week by the 3rd week of January.

A difference in meaning I think - AZ may be providing them.
I thought there had been a claim of delivering 2 million/week to arms, which is not AZ's concern. If I've got that target figure wrong, I'm happy to be corrected.

From the Telegrpah:
Mr Johnson said the target was two million jabs a week, widely acknowledged as the minimum if the most vulnerable people in society are to receive at least one dose of the new vaccines – two doses are required – by the end of March.

But a health source warned The Telegraph that people should not expect huge numbers overnight, saying: "We have never said we will do two million jabs a week. We have to manage expectations. You cannot vaccinate two million people a week from nothing. People will be underwhelmed by the figures if expectation is set too high."

I stand corrected, I was informed by one of my golf friends it was bubble or household only, just checked with my club and they are allowing 2 balls, I didn't take too much interest as I don't play in the current conditions, our Club (Ashton-under-Lyne) gets far to boggy in winter for it to be enjoyable. Where do you play?
Lovely club try & get a game in there most Sunday afternoons Spring-Autumn if City aren't playing.

Plus Pfizer have also said they will be delivering the planned orders on time. Obviously the Astra Zeneca product can be delivered almost anywhere but there is now an infrastructure in place to deliver Pfizer and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

Indeed I do,usually in a four ball including a very tall lad.
Ha ha, yes I know exactly who you are, I complimented you on your cap last time I saw you, about 3/4 pm tee off around early September. I'll make myself known to you this year when we resume our golf, cheers.

Lots of "how to speed up the vaccine" posts - whilst understandable probably not really the biggest issue right now.

We *cannot* vaccinate ourselves out of the hole that has been dug.

Cases are doubling at least every fortnight and are currently close to half a million a week. Actual infections will be at least double that (we don't catch anywhere near all with testing) That will continue to grow exponentially unless we take action. So we are currently infecting more people than are being vaccinated, and the number infected will be more than we can feasibly vaccinate until the virus has run through the entire population. That's something like half a million dead. Maybe half that if vaccination is done at the fastest possible rate.

Our hospitals will be overwhelmed - the average age in ICU is just 60.

We need to lock down *now* to give vaccination any chance. A really hard shut down through January gives us a fighting chance, despite the delay and dither so far. Dependent on how well that works we may need to extend for another month, or even two.

We should have done three weeks ago when it became apparent cases were out of control in London and the new variant was the likely cause.

And, of course, manufacture and logistics are very, very unlikely to go smoothly to plan for such an unprecedented operation.
