A friend of my wife gave birth last week, when she got to the hospital was tested, positive, husband had to leave. Left hospital couple of days later with her son. On Sunday said she was OK, felt like she had a tight chest. Just found out she is now in intensive care. She is 30. 7yo daughter and 10 day old son.

Goodness me. That's awful. I hope your wife's friend gets better soon.

What is the benefit in Scotland of stopping 'click and collect from supermarkets? To me collecting keeps people out of the stores, traipsing up and down for a significant period, avoiding the idiots who refuse to wear masks including the bellend who wears his on the back of the head.
If it is brought in here it will make my home delivery even harder to book, leaving me go out to the shops and run the gauntlet or go hungry.
Am I missing something?

I think it is still open for essentials, they are stopping it for non essential shops, to stop people going to the shops. Same with collecting takeaways in store.

With the talk of Private Members clubs in London flying their members out to UAE/ Dubai/India for vaccinations for 40 grand a pop

When do you think footballers/sportspeople will start doing it

That would be the Chinese produced vaccine. What I know about vaccines an be written on the back of a stamp but that supposedly was not subject to as rigorous testing and offers less protection than the vaccines we have approved.

Yes l have now heard that essentials include books shoes and refers to shops that sell them as if it means specialist shops. But Waitrose is taking part. Everything is deliberately vague and confusing like the word 'local' when referring to distance to travel for exercise.
There has just been an article about the free school meal packs on BBC but l still don't know why some families get vouchers and others the packs, whether it is local authorities deciding, who is making them up and how they are delivered. No mention of how many kids it affects.
Its all a bloody mess but so vague you can't tell how big a mess.

Presumably it becomes a Flu/Covid jab for all over 50’s every year at the same time.

Thats the expectation, potentially more too. In terms of the current situation, the briefing I got was that the expectations is back to tiers fully likely to be in march (but everyone being in the higher tiers). Back to relative normality is around June.

Im struggling to see an end to this. The new variants seem to be ripping through the country and i dont see any light til at least summer where as i always hung my hat on easter.
it makes you wonder if one of these new variants is going to be a lot more deadly than we have seen, thats a massive worry to me which i carry in the back of my mind
