The problem is, it isnt just a consequence for them. If you live in an area where, for whatever reason, you have communities where vaccine take up is low, yours could be last schools to open. spend longer in tier 4/5/6. Whatever the 'punishment' will be for having higher cases. I can see it causing a lot of resentment
Yes but you can only do so much to help people. As well as individual responsibility, the communities who are affected have to lead the way in changing the views of the reluctant people.

Wales data update:

59 Deaths - was 46 last week

705 cases - was 1153 last week

5.8% positivity - was 8.8% last week.

Weekly Pop Score 190 - down from 204 yesterday - was 281 last week.

Deaths still too high but that is unfortunately the last thing that will change.

Everything else looking very positive.

Wales vaccination update:

336, 071 total first doses - 23, 766 yesterday - about 1000 up on day before.

674 total second doses - 35 yesterday - it was 58 the day before.

Looks like the new variant is less Asymptomatic than the 1st strain. More people are getting sypmtoms with it.

Less likley to have loss of taste / smell.

Cough/Fever/Fatigue/sore throat, more likely than old variant.

Stomach pain the same. diarrhea close but slightly more common than the old version.

This time of year a lot of people would have those symptoms annway due to cold/flu symptoms getting tested and also having COVID. Hard to tell what the cause is, as shortness of breath hasn't changed for example.

Nicola Sturgeon says yesterday's vaccine numbers delayed due to technical problem but she can confirm that 60% of over 80s have now been vaccinated and they are on target to complete that by end of next week.

'We have virtually completed' the vaccination of care homes' she says (but cannot resist adding England are well behind!)

And that over 70s will start being the main group vaccinated from next Monday.

Indeed some areas are already booking in 65 to 70s.

They want to exceed targets if they can.

(Though she did not say this - I will - unlike England where if areas exceed targets like the North West they get a one third cut in the vaccines coming here as a reward for being too efficient).
