sorry thought it was 3%,,but it is scary because were going to see anual increases if their alowed to do it, i already spread my C/T over 12 months rather than 10 because its so expensive
LCC and the Police would put up theirs bit more- the vast majority passes through Wyre as the collection authority and they don't keep it. I'm not saying the total didn't go up 3% but there are limits, and they are likely to pusg to those limits as the Revenue Support funding they got as a formula grant from central Gov would have ended in 2020/21 and they are all now skint wherever you live.

They will have lost a load of money as they rely on fees to a greater extent than others also, as well as Ctax and NNDR, there was business rate relief for almost all businesses under COVID meaning NNDR was next to nothing, however the Government did dish out billions to help compensate for this, based on a formula rather than what was lost, which was unknown at the time.

I also spread over 12 as it is a no brainer, there is no incentive to pay in 10 months or in one go.

I think the last 12 months have proven allowing people to decide for themselves has had dire consequences.

And you’re talking to someone who had that very opinion and was anti lockdown last summer.
It doesn't help when there appears to be no more clear message regarding why the lockdown is in place. Is it to reduce the number of cases? Is it to reduce the pressure on the NHS?. Perhaps it's both I don't know.
The same applies with the Vaccines, work our way through the nine most vulnerable groups and we should be in a position to start lifting restrictions. Now we have scientists saying no we can't do as we need to vaccinate every adult otherwise there will be a peak in cases and/or new variants could take hold.
As I said I don't know what the right answer is but the cynic in me wonders if there are some parties who have a vested interest in perpetuating the pandemic either because of the financial aspect or the profile it gives them. I suppose that is human nature but it doesn't help the majority of us.

Equally ( perhaps more) possible there are vested interests in ending the lockdown prematurely and dismissing the danger? I think we need to get away from seeing the economy and healthcare as competing issues and see them as interdependent.

I've got my jab this Friday next to Hyde Football ground. 61, quite active, still work, bit of cycling and golf when we get back to some kind of normal. However, underlying conditions get me the vaccine.

My best mate of 50 years has Prostate cancer, being contained thankfully but he's on medication and had Radiotherapy, no invitation yet, does anyone know if he should be in group 6 like I am. I've tried google but can't find a definitive answer, would really appreciate some advice, my mate had been through tough times and I feel guilty I'm getting the jab and he's not, cheers in advance.
Good luck with your jab on Friday.

As for your mate I would have thought he would be in group 6. When I received my text there was a link to the NHS page where I think you can check what is covered by Group 6 so you check if you were actually eligible to receive one.

The issue is though that different areas are working at different paces through the groups so it will depend where he lives. Some are moving on to groups such as ours whereas others are only just starting on the Over 65's.

You've only got to watch the news to see what decisions some people have taken. Blatant disregard for the lockdown in many cases
Again, these are people who have no regard for rules. It has no bearing on the need for rules for others.

I went out for a walk in the City centre this evening. Walked down Cross St and King St. That's prime retail space. That area was struggling before the lockdown but it's devastated now. Commercial lenders must be getting hammered. 1/3rd of shops are up for let in these areas. Of course this is probably the worst moment now as who would buy commercial premises now when you can't open them. If it was your life's ambition to open a restaurant or cafe then now might be the time to strike a bargain. Risky though.
I’m involved in a restaurant business, during this last year we’ve expanded to a further restaurant and two take away shops and on the verge of a third restaurant. Four extra venues that were to good to miss. The leases and contents of these properties are so enticing that it’s not even a gamble.
Example, a place we wanted was for sale in January 2020, as a growing concern for 175k with lease 40k annually. It was fitted out with a wood fire pizza oven that cost 36k and was used for three week’s before lockdown one.
We signed it over on 1st feb 2021 for no purchase price, 4K annual lease and full itemised contents. The pizza oven was sold to a restaurant in London for 20k and shipped last week.
the lease does increase annually but is significantly less than previous.
There must be similar examples galore of the bargains out there, some are tales of woe and some are people who took the grants and loans and the opportunity to abandon heavy risks.

You can tell we as a country hopefully are getting on top of this when people are talking about pizza ovens instead of deaths, long may it continue and our lives can return to some sort of normality very soon
