If the vaccine doesn’t work what is the point in compulsorily vaccinating staff ?
On the radio last night there was a woman saying she's scared for life to go back to normal, I couldn't believe my ears because I can't even comprehend that, and felt really sorry for her.Also, the risk of Stockholm syndrome is strong.
With the awareness around mental health issues these days I hope this is an aspect of psychological trauma that becomes well publicised, otherwise many people will be cowering away from normal and safe and pleasurable aspects of life for years to come.

My understanding is that the vaccine isn’t 100% effective and as yet we have limited evidence it reduces the likelihood of getting infected or reduces transmission.The vaccine "working" is not a binary on/off thing like a light bulb.
It reduces the likelihood and severity of infection.
If you get a staff member bringing the virus into a home, it's still possible for a significant outbreak, including hospitalisations and deaths.
One variant evading the vaccine that has an R rate of 3 would put us right back where we started.

Just seen that, he's an annoying fucker at the best of times.Apparently Simon Calder has just been on the TV encouraging people to book their foreign holidays. Saying (in terms) don't worry, it will all be fine and if there's a problem you can cancel and get your money back in 2 weeks.
How fucking irresponsible when this goes dead against current government advice.
The reality is who knows what/whether restrictions are going to be lifted and it is very far from "it will all be fine". And so much for the law about giving money back - it took me 6 months and threats of legal action to get my £2,500 back off Sovereign after THEY cancelled my holiday last year.
Don't blame you for that, if its anything like mine its a shambles and no surprise we've had so many cases and deaths.I'm anxious about going back to the office.
Yeah, it wasn't aimed at the majority who post on this thread. I just saw those last few posts and thought they were too far entrenched in either camp.Several of us said we would be in a much better place by around Easter and that looks like being the case. We have had a fair amount of positive news in recent days including the 100% effectiveness (currently) of the Oxford / AZ vaccine against serious illness and the record number of vaccinations. In addition to the reductions in U.K. deaths and hospitalisations and being closer to restrictions starting to be eased.
Happy to be guided by the scientists. I care more about others than my need for a holiday.out of interest, how long would you be prepared to wait to see if this eventuality unfolded?
It’s not “thinking that way”. It’s possible. We need to be cautious until the rest of the world has caught up on vaccines, to try to limit the spread of the virus and hope in the meantime that the vaccines continue to work.Why even think that way when there has been no suggestion this could ever happen, very odd.
