To be fair to the WHO they are, in most part, a diplomatic entity, they need to play the diplomacy card closrly. as in they need to not piss off countries like China, as China is likely to be a source of Pandemics while there animal husbandry gets its self sorted out ( it will happen eventually ). if you get to critical they close up shop and you have no idea whats going on and get zero warning of any new pandemics.
Im almost 100% sure this is what happened with the WHO this time around. the US and other countries just spouted "China flu" etc etc and China in there beligerent way just said a giant fuck you to the world and refused the WHO access. hopefully that will calm down and we can start to get access some more.
Even if the whole world got together and imposed sanctions on China ( its not gonna happen ) they would still be doing what they do politically. Nothing will change that other than internal changes to that country.
Id suggest watching the video, the WHO documentation is very thorough and rational. it gives measured ideas of where things may have come from yet takes nothing off the table. the reason they don't rule out frozen food is they dont know where it came from so they cant rule it out.
With respect I feel you are being a little naive on your expected response to China as far as the CCP and state officials are concerned.
The CCP has a desire to increase their influence methodically with a plan that they wish to carry out irrespective of the criticism or not.
this is economically driven initially and the CCP have a completely different moral code and compass to democracies , the rule of law , sovereignty and the right to innocence until proven guilty in a court of law.
its much like dealing with a sociopath , they manipulate you , charm you and are hell bent on destroying you if you expose them for what they are or they don't get what they want from you which is complete and utter control of you.
in Australia they need our coal and our iron ore and we want accordingly to trade with them until we develop other markets for these products in similar quantities to trade with them but at the same time they will breach agreements on products like wine , beef , barley , powdered milk and think nothing of it and say are human rights abuses are worse based on no factual evidence at all.
they accuse others of doing far worse than they do who are clean skins just like the sociopath does.
In short they accuse their detractors of engaging in the behaviour they do and they act morally , ethically and socially pristine with not a flaw in their character.
Of course what we consider abhorrent they consider necessary to achieve their ends and lawful.
They are thumbing their nose on Global warming as they build their economy and I find it amusing there are intelligent people in politics , economics ,science and even the media that actually spout they will be net zero carbon dioxide emission by 2060.
The vast majority of their West China live in what we would describe as poverty and its difficult to establish a true rate because the media in China is controlled by the State.
Many I know who come to Australia in the past 30 years ( we have over 1.8 million living in Australia permanently and even more that traverse regularly between the tow countries ) who were born in China ) almost 7 percent of our population without exception tell me the poverty rate are far higher than reported.
the death from covid in China is much higher then reported and I mean much higher but the State would tell you otherwise.
