ZOE APP DATA

Predicted Cases UP 20 to 2660.

North West UP even more today to highest level it has been in months. Top of all UK now.

Now the only place in the UK in the Red Zone - not been any here in weeks on Zoe.

Predicted symptomatic cases also up a lot again to 37, 790 - a rise of 1393 in day. Double yesterday.

NORTH WEST NUMBERS

(Predicted active cases / Estimated cases per million population locally / Both V yesterday)

BOLTON 455 / 1605 V 183 / 646 - A big rise and back as an area of concern (over 1000 on the second number).

It is now joined on Zoe by - as I have been warning about in here for days - Bury:

BURY 270 / 1432 V 107/ 569 Big Rise.

This was always a threat that might occur which I hope the authorities were watching and acted on up front. Though sadly doubt it. Adjacent area to Bolton. Even starting with a letter B! Numbers ticking up from low base as we have been noting in here for days now. The clues were all there. But they use 5 day old data and once again were probably too late spotting this.

Moreover a surprise addition today to the North West

LANCASTER 166 / 1163 - Only just over the 1000 threshold. But turned pink today.

Others GM Areas:-

MANCHESTER 139 / 255 - a modest rise on day needs watching

OLDHAM 87 / 373 V 47 / 202 - another fair sized rise again - another to watch .

ROCHDALE 27 / 122 V 20 / 92 another small rise

SALFORD 42 / 166 V 36 / 141 - a fifth successive small increase here but all low

STOCKPORT 112 / 389 V 110 / 381 - also a fifth successive rise but again very slight here.

TAMESIDE 165 / 736 V 114 / 510 - given its recent low cases this is the second large jump back to back and a rather sudden change taking it near turning pink WE need to keep an eye on this.

TRAFFORD 112 / 480 V 91 / 338 - again a fifth straight increase and now above Stockport as the rise accelerates - so needs a careful watch.

WIGAN 49 / 152 V 37 / 113 - given proximity to Bolton is very good to see only a small rise on low numbers.

Chorley is low but inched up a tad to 24 / 209 V 19 / 166

Fylde (Blackpool) is up a bit on 16 / 209 V 10 / 129 -

High Peak (Glossop/Whaley Bridge/Buxton) again edges up on 19 / 206 V 17 / 184 But not a problem like it was a few days ago

But according to Zoe the worst areas in UK right now are:-

Aberdeen (Scotland) 1663 / 7357 V 1487 / 6579 shows here well up.

STILL WORST AREA IN UK ON ZOE

Newport (Wales) 166 / 1094 V 279 / 3004 - even bigger fall today. Dropped almost off the red list.

North Lanarkshire (Scotland) 1533 / 4531 V 1548 / 4575 - a small fall here on the second highest UK region.

The two worst are now in Scotland on Zoe.

Fife and West Lothian have crept jut over 1000 much like Bury today also.

Others:-

North Lincolnshire 738 / 4329 V 646 / 3789 - up again today and

Bedford 597 / 3511 V 594 / 3494 - a small rise but one of the highest locations in the UK now

Leeds 2192 / 2797 V 2407 / 3071 - a small fall

Wolverhampton 600 / 2311 V 708 / 2707 a modest fall again here too

Bradford 2076 / 3891 V 1759 / 3297 - rising here also.

Leicester (812 / 2300) and Hinckley (286/ 2653) are both rising too

Both Nottingham and adjacent Ashfield in the midlands creep into the lists over 1000 too today.

A surprise addition is Bath and Wiltshire creeping up just a little over 1000. But Three Rivers (round Watford) is the highest in the south up at 204 / 2222

Though there are a sprinkling of places in the south crawling just over 1000 today suggesting this variant is spreading wide - including Canterbury, Maldon, Bromley and Lambeth.

They had a live link from it on TV this morning. It is only about a third full. They are only going to UK destinations. Cannot even land in France. That travel guru guy - Simon Calder - who is on everything was aboard and said they are barely travelling 20 miles in a day. And blowing a gale!
Blimey! Sounds like a fun holiday lol

looking at this i think you are spot with 21 june not going ahead

Its a hobby for some a tell thee

ps : not the ones providing useful statistics and numbers. More the ones who get over excited
Or the ones who just get plain rude if you ever question the orthodoxy of lockdown or the weaponising of fear to try to control the population.
Science is about taking an hypothesis and then doing everything you can to prove it’s false, or at least that’s what I was taught.

Whereas now ‘science‘ has become an absolute concept and there is but a single truth. If you question that, no matter what your history, qualifications or experience you are just abused or de-platformed, for promoting ‘false science’ ffs.

For my part, I believe Covid exists, I believe that, for the more vulnerable members of society, it’s a terrible disease to have, although that’s true of many diseases, to be fair. I believe that vaccinations are a good thing and have already had 2 myself and I don’t believe there is any global conspiracy.
Where I’m not convinced is on the efficacy of lockdown or cloth face coverings as a medium or long term strategy, or that any government should have the unfettered power to do what ‘democratic’ governments have just done to their populace over the last 12 months.

I think it's inevitable that full restrictions aren't coming to an end on that date so it's going to be interesting to see what does and doesn't stay in place. I think there'll be some kind of fudged middle ground they'll go for.

Surfing the news I see reports that ONS found that for the period ending the 15th May there was a significant increase in infections in England purely as a result of growth in the Kent variant. So don't assume that if the figures are going up it's all a result of the Indian variant.

England hospital deaths:

5 with 1 from NW - that one being in Bolton. Last wk there was 7 with 1 NW.

Only 4 of the 5 were in May.

Previous wks:- 12 with 0, then 14 with 2 and previously 19 with 4 NW.

The other 4 today were 1 in East (Bedford), 1 in Midland (Leicester), 1 in NE & Yorkshire (Bradford) and 1 in South East (Dartford)

What is very notable there is that these mostly or all seem to be the boroughs with the new variant and where cases on Zoe are in the pink zones. Only Dartford is not afaik.

2 of the 5 were aged 60 - 79 and the other 3 were 80+

England hospital deaths:-

None of the past 4 days have more than 3 deaths on any of them.

The fifth day (16 May) has 4.

No day back to 13 May (on 6) has more than 4 deaths.

The death numbers are still noticeably falling in England hospitals even 2 or 3 weeks into this new variant.

There have only been two dates in the entire month of May so far in double figures even 3 weeks on.

The two in double figures are both 13. (5 May and 11 May)

In the last full 7 days of at least 5 day totals (9 - 15 May) the total deaths are 34 - under 5 a day.

The previous week( 2 - 8 May) the total was 55

Week before (25 Apr - 1 May) it was 74,

2829 cases - big jump from 2193 last Friday. Biggest recently I think.

Approx 969K pillar 1 & 2 tests v 1,164, 000 yesterday,

Careful , youll be labeled a lunatic with well thought out posts like that

My parents in law are cruise obsessed. They’d sail round anywhere. They just like the dressing up, eating too much and feeling special.
I can't stand the dressing-up, photos with the captain and always dodge the painfully slow dining, but I discovered cruises were a great way to visit lots of countries quickly and easily (Caribbean, Emirates, South America) and would happily go again if prices are decent. My parents loved the round-Britain tour.

This surely has to be the benchmark they use for opening up and not imposing lockdowns etcetera? Hospitalisations and deaths. We know covid is still out there, new variants will emerge and the more people mix the more this will happen. The vaccine was supposed to be our way out, like the flu vaccine protecting people from getting seriously ill and dying from it. If hospitalisations and deaths don't rise significantly they can't backtrack now surely?

Bolton down a lot (94) day to day to 'just' 186.

But - a very BIG but -

Gov UK have from today announced they are changing the way cases are allocated as so many are having to be removed after lateral flow tests later prove negative.

This is why we got all those negative numbers a few days ago.

They are now removing them daily but ONLY in national numbers and not in day to day case numbers that will now not really reflect at all what number there was that day.

They advise that both regional and local numbers I post here are now a bit meaningless and suggest we use the 5 day old finalised data instead.

The ones that made them miss what was happening in Bolton and now Bury.

I can hear the conspiracy theorists sharpening pencils already! And I am wondering if it is worth posting data they have rendered misleading.

Or if they really want to get over this pandemic as this looks a pretty stupid move.

At least my publisher will be happy if it means I get on with that book I am writing instead of posting here all day.
