I see an upcoming Bruce Springstein concert in New York will be the first full capacity in the region since the start.

If you have been double jabbed you can attend.

But not if you have been doubled jabbed with AZ.

I wonder how expensive AZ have to make the drug before the Americans decide it is unacceptable to smear?

Twats - quite happy to send their unused AZ stocks to Brazil though!

That is terrible Tolmie. Though good for Brazil to get vaccines I am sure they will be pleased to use.

The efficacy from keeping you out of hospital between that and Pfizer after two doses is 92% v 96% -utterly ridiculous to discriminate for a tiny difference.

The US being protectionist - who would have thought it.

Has it excluded other vaccines from counting - such as the Chinese ones?

Or any American ones?

What grounds are they citing as it presumably is not actual evidence that AZ does not protect. Nobody has said that. Only its risk potential on younger people has ever been in doubt - which I would have thought has no impact on why you should not go to a concert.

He want's jailing just for what he's wearing next to his bikes!

It's amazing how many young, fit, healthy individuals in the UK that are exempt from wearing masks.

Fucking numpties!!

Obviously, nobody in the US has even been administered AZ, as the FDA have not authorised it for use over there?

But you can only only attend with a US double jab, must be Pfizer, J&J and Moderna to get in to see The Boss.

I don't see why they even need to stipulate, as who is being allowed to travel over to the States anyhow, if only to smear the efficacy of AZ?

And if it's so unsafe, why send the AZ batches they do have stockpiled to Brazil and India?

What's that saying, we're all equal, but some are more equal than others?

Although it appears they may have been forced to backtrack on the rules overnight...

Good on the Canadians for showing them some sense.

Are they banning anyone who cured themselves by injecting disinfectant as their president suggested?

Or did they all die?

Are they making excuses already to try and extend the current restrictions?

--------

'Nick Robinson is in the chair for Andrew Marr today.

His first guest is Public Health England's Susan Hopkins.

He asks first what is happening with the spread of the Delta variant in England. Dr Hopkins says there are "rises and falls" across the country - with numbers of cases slowing down in Bolton and stabilising in Blackburn with Darwen, but rising in London.

She adds we are seeing the impact of vaccination however, and that "hopefully" the current wave "will not look the same as previous waves".

Pushed on how many adults needed to be vaccinated by 19 July, to allow restrictions to be lifted, she suggests a figure of 70% could realistically be reached - adding that she is particularly keen to see all adults over 30 in England double-vaccinated by so-called "Terminus Day".

"We know two doses really protects against hospital admissions," she tells Nick Robinson.

She says that if admissions and discharges continue as they are currently, the NHS will be able to cope.'

Yeah that's all well and good. But I got my jab booked in literally the day it went live in late May to have the jab in early June and the wait for my next jab means I was offered it on the last week of August at the very earliest.

How do they think all over 30s are going to be double jabbed by the 19th of July when this isn't even possible?

They're playing with us.

Only been to New York once and it was the only place in a lot of globetrotting where I heard gun fire on the street and stood in awe as everyone ignored a running gun battle on the street opposite,

I asked after the protagonists had fled and was told 'we all just assume these days they are filming Law and Order or some such programme. It happens all the time.

That apparently is not putting lives at risk. But having a vaccine that provably works is?

Crooky the rates in Bolton have been FALLING - not slowing down. She has to know that as anyone reading the GM Pop Score data on here night by night does. Not rapidly but clearly falling.

Looks like the key to this was the rapid intervention of boosting Bolton's then poor and now relatively good vaccination numbers over the past 5/6 weeks.

By a mile the reason GM is in trouble still right now is not really to do with Bolton but Manchester and Salford whose high numbers are yet to start to really fall. Bolton is currently only 5th out of 10 in the boroughs. And has dropped a place every few days. These two boroughs are 1 and 2.

And - surprise surprise - have the two lowest vaccination rates in GM. Whereas Stockport - which has the best - has the lowest Pop Score in GM - and the only one under 200.

So why is she not telling the government to do what they did in Bolton in Manchester and Salford on vaccinations?

Truth is, they don’t really know what’s going on.…..
Look at the coronavirus data website on vaccinations and split it by nations and then regions.
England is at 80.7% first doses and 59.3% second doses. Not one English region is above 77% first doses, and only one is on 59% second doses. i wonder which data they’re using to make decisions?

The wrong set usually at a guess.

Though to be fair it is pretty hard right now to know which way things will go. Or what the next step should be and when.

You cannot just keep issuing lockdowns. Every time they have eroded further. They know that they are close to the point of not being able to use them at all even when they are really necessary should a big wave hit due to some new variant in winter time perhaps.

Last thing you want to do is cry wolf and mean you have to take a vaccine evading variant on the chin.

Zoe App data:

Bit of an upturn today after days of slowing down.

Predicted cases up 676 (the rise was just 239 yestetday) - to 17, 393

Ongoing symptomatic cases rise by 8207 (it was up just 6454 yesterday) - to 219, 537

The map of the UK now looks almost fully covered. Only a couple of small areas in Wales on the west and south coast now NOT a shade of pink. It was almost empty 10 days ago untik it spread to North Wales. Conwy in particular.

In the North West Stockport shows its fall in real life here too. Now below several boroughs from being well up. Trafford has risen a lot on Zoe (matching daily real cases) and Tameside too. Bolton though way down to its lowest numbers in a while. Again tracking Gov UK data well.

And Liverpool up again to now above every borough in GM from way below 10 days or so ago.

North Lancashire and Cumbria rising too.

The test events in Liverpool may have been a factor perhaps.

London now has multiple boroughs going up. Including Runnymede - going from Magna Carta to magna cases it sadly seems.

Scotland is the top UK region ahead of the North West as it has been for a few days now. But noth are the only two in dark red. Though many areas now a rung or two below and climbing.

No question this is now a UK wave.

I feel more threatened in Manchester than NYC. Always felt totally comfortable there and it’s no different from other large cities. Brilliant place.

Scotland data:

0 deaths - was 0 last week

1205 cases - was 1036 last week

At least that is down 4 on yesterday's 1209 looking for any crumbs

5,8% positivity - was 5.0% last week

Great to see queues of people going for vaccines at stadiums all across London, just worry there doesn't seem to be the same kind of drive elsewhere. Are they making more vaccines available down there or is it just a case of getting the word out more?

Think having it at stadiums is a good idea from a "marketing" point of view for young people, reaching out to thousands of fans who will jump at the chance to say they've had it done at their club!

So deaths from the three nations (we do not get England until the data later on weekends) are 0 versus 1 last week

Nicola has fallen out with the good people of Manchester.
I reported earlier from what was said by Andy Burnham this morning. Previous page.

Or it was.

Maybe too political - although it is about his suggestion to get around letting people from GM holiday in Scotland. Which I think goes beyond politics into the debate on what we do next in the coming weeks as we seek to open up.

As in travel passes for the double vaccinated versus stop all travel from areas with high cases.

We are all going to have to determine the right way to resolve that one soon. All politics aside.

There are 7 "walk-in centres" around Greater Manchester. Obviously not on the same scale as Stadiums in London but people are going to them. I would suspect that's the case in all the major cities in England
