Said one person (Cummings).

I think you need to take that one upstairs to the politics sub-forum ^^^

The point being if current vaccines are ineffective and even boosters don't work then there is no obvious exit. I don't think that is remotely the case but lockdown fetishists can't get enough.
Vaccines can be tweaked. I’d not want another lockdown, but would be happy to be guided by the science.

Not everything is black or white.

It’s what refusing to lockdown when told to do so by the scientists, as was the original policy before the inevitable U-turn.
Lots of scientists saying the evidence so far is that this mutation isn't a severe threat.

But carry on, as lockdown fetishists love a lockdown. I'd say the UK has handled the situation extremely well over the last few months.

No one wants a lockdown but dismissing people who think one might be necessary as lockdown fetishists is a bit pathetic.

Silly thing to say.

Anyway, bringing it back to adult level conversation....what do you mean by not a severe threat? If it is seriousness of symptoms of those who have had the Omicron variant, almost all evidence is anecdotal at the moment. We have a bit longer to wait before we can say with any confidence it is less/more serious.

you take your blue mask off
put your black one on
off on off on all for Omicron
you do the covid hokey and you turn around
and thats what its all about

OK bedtime i guess

Next week the outgoing government here is bringing in a decree for compulsory vaccinations for over 60s, police, fire brigade and medical staff. It won't come into effect until March 2022. The incoming government might well undo that though.

I, like you, are more worried about the effect of the lockdown on me, than the infection itself because I will have been vaccinated 3 times by the time it arrives, and I have had the Delta infection but that does not mean that a lockdown is unnecessary because if millions get infected and it's a mild infection for 99%, you still have a huge problem.

I am hopeful that this may be the last wave of Covid that we should be concerned about simply because when it's over we will all have had exposure to Covid and anti-virals, and specific vaccines are going to follow.

In the UK, resistance to this illness comes from vaccines and that comes from science and people implementing that science, it does not come from Parliament, for example Bolsanaro's Brazil has now given more first jabs than the UK so I wouldn't give too much credit to governments. It is societies that respond to crises, and people, so don't be anti-social.
