Coronavirus (2022) thread

What china do is totally irrelevant. Crack pot country who believe in control
In terms of how they handle it it’s dramatically different to where we are as a country.

But if they locked down the whole country for a month or 2 like they did at the start of the pandemic it’s very relevant to everyone. Globally we still have not got over the 1st lockdown they did, still massive delays in buying new cars etc due to lack of processors.

Granada Reports covering the big rise in cases in the NW tonight. Asking should be be worried? And being told by a doctor potentially and we do need more boosters. So an unscheduled sit rep to calm nerves.

They unfortunately gave cases from a week ago! Sadly as they were right that once again Greater Manchester has the biggest numbers and Trafford and Stockport have become the biggest problem areas as they were pre Christmas. As these are the two with the best vaccination levels that is clearly a factor in raw numbers at least

They cited Pop Scores of around 410 for these two. But said that was 7 days ago.It was.

As of tonight - these two are now 669 and 655 respectively - more than 50% up on the numbers Granada Reports gave. And Bury, Manchester and Saford are actually now at the rates they just cited for Stockport and Trafford.

But so far cases are just that. Hospital numbers in the NW are not the worst in England - up just 35 today. Out of a rise of 133 in total up to 11,010 for England. But ventilatirs remain flat at just 25 in NW and 236 in total in England. And there were just 7 deaths in the region today - pretty low for a Wednesday..

So yes as they said if you watched Granada it is a little concerning as a big cases rise continues at just under 50% week to week. But as yet I do not think it is proving that concerning as the more important hospital numbers remain at modest levels given the high case numbers daily,

No panic imo. But we need to keep watching.

Well I followed the lockdown rules for 2 years and guess where I am today?
In Hope Hospital, Salford Royal to some, with Corona and slight complications. C’est La vie!

The staff here cannot be faulted, they are looking after me so well. Being me! I can’t do things by half,I’ve got a bruise from under my left boob, right across under the right and half way round my back! :-) everyone keeps popping in, ‘is it ok if I have a look’ One doctor said I should charge them a fiver a viewing. *rofl*

It’s the pain that’s annoying me though, but I guess like football no pain without gain!
Keep smiling, keep cheering, keep the faith. :-)

A brief update as I have to report that Zoe has today recorded that more people are a new Covid infection today than at any time in the pandemic. 268,704 new cases today in their data.

Also the ongoing symptomatic cases set a new record today at 2,807,072.

North West is the 7th out of 12 of the UK regions right now.

Deaths are edging up slowly day to day but are still just down week to week in England.

Ventilator numbers in England are now rising up to 249 and the first time up week to week (from 221) in some time.

Admissions are creeping up daily to close in on 2000 - 1800 on Tuesday (always 2 days behind). North West on 234 - up modesty from 212 last Tuesday

England patients are up today by 336 on 11,346. Last Thursday they were up 78 on 9241. So up 2105 in a week. Biggest rise in two or three months.

But NW is only up 2. Most of the increase today is in the South East & South West - up 167 between them.

These are also the only two regions into five figure case numbers today 15,667 and 11,665 respectively.

North West cases are down slightly today on 7860. As is Greater Manchester on 2228 of them. That is only 28.3% of the North West total so Greater Manchester is not now driving the numbers in the region.

Merseyside and the areas around Preston and Ribble are.

Sorry to hear that EB, get well soon.

My son tested positive yesterday and this morning my wife and myself have now tested positive. First time we have all knowingly had it.

Hope you feel better soon @Eccles Blue
