Coronavirus (2022) thread

Well I followed the lockdown rules for 2 years and guess where I am today?
In Hope Hospital, Salford Royal to some, with Corona and slight complications. C’est La vie!

The staff here cannot be faulted, they are looking after me so well. Being me! I can’t do things by half,I’ve got a bruise from under my left boob, right across under the right and half way round my back! :-) everyone keeps popping in, ‘is it ok if I have a look’ One doctor said I should charge them a fiver a viewing. *rofl*

It’s the pain that’s annoying me though, but I guess like football no pain without gain!
Keep smiling, keep cheering, keep the faith. :-)
hope you stay well eccles, and any chance you can post the picture of your eeerm bruise , just for medical reasons of course :)

Are hospital numbers going up pro-rata with the infection rate of a couple of weeks ago?
There are a couple of England hospital number updates I have posted over the last two or three pages if you look back.

The inpatient numbers are well up week to week (over 2000 in the past week to 11,346) and admissions have doubled from 800 or so to pushing 2000 a day in two or three weeks.

Ventulator numbers have been falling for weeks but are now edging up slightly. But still very low on 249.

The sothern regions have the biggest rises and the highest cases day to day at the moment but all are up.

Deaths are starting to rise but not by a great deal. BUT the biggest rise is coming in the over 60s - especially the over 70s - suggesting the boosters are wearing off a bit as this group were the first to have them. And over 75s are getting a fourth dose next month.

But the numbers as yet are not very concerning. This new version of Omicron is not causing the havocwe saw in older patients pre the vaccines.

Scotland patients are rising a little less fast than they were. On 2050 today. Up only 12. But just 3 now below the highest numbers ever here on 22 January 2021. Ventilators though are flattish and down from 33 to 31 this past few days. That is way below where they were last time Scotland was on 2050 paients when the number was 161 - five times now.

The vaccines are still holding up pretty well for serious disease as you can see.

If ventilator numbers are staying level, then it would suggest that the hybrid Omicron/Delta variant is still an upper respiratory virus, rather than hitting the lungs hard.

Are there even any numbers for how wide spread that is yet? Last week it was double digits in Europe. Unless its got a significant speed boost over Omicron I cant see it having gained much traction yet, if it ever does.

The graphs above show the trajectory. Going to have 3m active cases for the first time over the weekend.

Covid yes. but what % of that is the Deltacron Hybrid? odds are its just Omicron + waining immunity.

if there's only a few hundred cases of the hybrid its too early to tell anything.

BA2 isn't the Omicron/Delta hybrid. its just a mutation on Omicron.

Not sure, I don’t even know if we will know as a country. I guess they are testing samples at random to get an idea.

Any update on Eccles?
I’m wandering around my room with an intravenous antibiotic drip hanging from my arm and I feel like a pincushion with all the injections and blood taking. They’re selling it I’m sure!! :-)

As for @Sir peace frog seeing the bruise I don’t think even your nerves would stand it!! *rofl*

Mu only problems are that I may have to watch the match day thread for the game plus I haven’t got my kit or my trusty scarf! Although the jumper I came in in is Blue. Will that work? :-( :-)
