It will also reduce isolation times, as currently you have to start your isolation after the result of your pcr. which could take 2 or 3 days to take and get your result after you have done a lft.

No, you can start isolation from whichever positive test came first already (or when your symptoms started if that was before)

What is the latest evidence re jabs reducing (or not) the chances of actually catching covid? i guess omicron changed this? and the chances of then transmitting it on?

are we still in the same situation that being jabbed is reducing these things compared to not being jabbed? (completely ignoring the subsequent health impact)
Yep. Starts 85-90% reduction in chance of catching it and drops off to about 25-30% after 6 months.

Risk of severe illness/death still remains about 80% lower extremity though after 6 months.

According to the government the booster is the key. It raises the dwindling immunity very significantly. Hence the big push on these.

3 jabs v 2 is dramatically different risk v Omicron. Not necessarily stopping you catching it but minimising it to in effect like a mild or at worst a severe cold in most people.

There are people still catching it and some being hospitalised with 3 jabs but the outcome with the booster so far looks to be much better than we had once feared Omicron might produce.

Though Omicron is SO infectious I doubt it makes much difference to the risk of you spreading it. Hence why you still need to isolate even if triple jabbed.

I took Mrs H to A & E a few years ago after she broke her wrist after a fall. A family of about 6 walked in, no idea which one was there for treatment. The elder female of the group, said something like “for fucks sake, I’ve forgotten the cigs”. She got on the phone, ordered a cab and returned with a 200 sleeve fag packet. They were there for a day out, constantly in and out of the waiting room for a smoke, fucking scrotes.

My paramedic mate (a fellow Blue) has just said, and I quote ''Fuck that ... the responsibilities that would come with such a call, is way above my pay grade''

I am talking, sore leg, sore elbow etc.

I know it’s difficult but it’s an issue and if a minority of the public want to abuse it, the same minority should be told no more.

Thanks both, I am mainly curious about the catching it to begin with and then passing it on, for jabbed vs unjabbed, not about the reduction in severity of illness etc.

And people wonder why we have a high death rate..

After a month of our cases dropping significantly, they are on the up again. I guess that will be omicron starting to take over from Delta. Hopefully it will be a quick rise and fall like we saw in SA.

I worked frontline Ambulances for 13 years, and i am still in contact with many of my colleagues......you can quote all the reports you want,i know the reality.

I think what he’s saying is that 1% of people take the piss (accounting for 33% of the usage)…

I’m afraid I’ve had several family members (all in laws I might add!), who have misused emergency services and A&E. 2 had mental health problems and would either ring an ambulance or show up at Tameside hospital weekly. My mother in law, had been a nurse in the 50s and 60s and was a complete hypochondriac, imagining she had everything under the sun. I would imagine she attended A&E monthly until her death 6 years ago.

It was Tameside where Mrs H was, live just about half a mile away. You’ve given me an idea, when I sell up “ideal location for hypochondriacs”.

There needs to be a system in place for charging the cunts for false usage.

It’s a fucking joke that useless selfish cunts abuse the tax money the majority of us put in.
