Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Next season I would agree with you, thing's have to start again and cope with in any way it has to.

But this season should be null and void, it's simply unfair to the teams threatened with relegation. The rules and circumstances have changed and that is unacceptable.

We should start next season 1st September, same rules for everyone , give the authorities adequate time to plan a proper start up, and just as important give the players time to get their fitness levels back.
Ok just playing devil's advocate. We null and void this season. We start next season in September. Still no fans allowed. Early doors we draw at home to the dippers and United. Come Christmas time, all is good, the full country have been vaccinated. So we can start letting fans back in the ground. Problem now is we have 2 tough away games in front of there fans. Is that fair ?

I wonder what the mortality and morbidity rate of the so-called vaccine will be. They should have a TV special where all the top dogs promoting the vaccine can go on with their families and get the shot, maybe mix it up with something like Britain's Got Talent.
You’re on to a ratings winner there.

Don’t think there’ll be a vaccine though, history suggests that despite the unprecedented effort the science world is putting in now vaccines are very hard to come by

I posted in the Off Topic thread as well but it seems relevant here:

My mum was taken to hospital last week as she was having some heart troubles, after being in the hospital for a couple hrs she was given a mouth and nose swab which was then sent off to be tested. She was moved onto the ward and treated normally. After about 36hrs the results came back that she was positive and she was moved to another ward. She lives with us so the assumption was that she was already positive and that we all had it. I had some mild symptoms and as i travel to work we all went and got tested at the Etihad on Friday. Results came back yesterday morning to say we were negative, all of us. So that means that she either caught it in hospital in the 2-3 hrs she was there before the test and there is not much of an incubation period before you are positive, or that the tests aren't accurate and she isn't positive. IMO there are huge doubts here, they don't understand it themselves (science) and the doctor himself told me on the phone it was a 7 day incubation period so not likely to have caught it there. I have also read online that there are studies that are showing false-negatives and then a couple days later they are coming back positive.

Scotland just ended the season with champions and relegation places confirmed. Continuation judged unfeasible. Watch this space

The Dippers will get all excited about todays league meeting , but its only to confirm the first stage of training in small groups and players signing a bit of paper about the corona virus , its a long way from full training , full fitness and agreeing where the games are going to be played . The local constabulary will have a big say as well , and the first Dipper game at Klanfield will be surrounded by their rabid fans , they cant help themselves, thirty years of abject failure will be to much for them , because after all the heartache "its their year". Quite funny that the best supporters in the world will actually scupper their own title bid , because this means more .LOL.

I wonder if UEFA will have something to say.
I don't think so, Scottish Govt are treating the lockdown different to us so SPL can still use the extenuating grounds argument. I think they are well within their rights to do so, whereas in England we have began to lift lockdowns and govt advice is different to our own professional sports events. At this point if they say no, i think UEFA will treat us differently to the Scots.

No it's not. If we start next season behind closed doors, the whole season should be behind closed doors
