Neil Lennon just on sky sports news saying it would have been a waste of time starting the league back up. Said they was due to go back in on June 12th but then add 5 or 6 weeks on top of that for getting back up to speed and then it's the end of July and it impacts on next season.

For a ginger he spoke really well, can't see the same logic being applied in dear old Blighty.

LET ME SPEAK.........!!

To all intents and purposes, the Prem League competition finished as soon as the games were suspended. Liverpool probably would have won it . Continuation behind closed doors is not the came competition nor can it now be compared to previous seasons, squads have been rested, some squads will have lost fitness, individuals won't be too arsed about playing and a significant number probably won't really be trying , particularly if their teams are mid table or individually they are moving on or seeking a transfer. If the positions are worked out on an 'as it currently stands' basis or on a points per game basis , it again will be a hollow victory and not comparable. The driver behind continuing is simply greed and a wish to see Liverpool crowned mathematical champions. I fully understand the need to get back to work and relax the lockdown if the science says its safe to do so, not got a problem with the moves that are being made but i just don't see a need for football to carry on given that we are coming to a natural summer break. From a sporting perspective i'm more concerned with summer sports that are missing full seasons. Football isn't really of interest at the moment apart from the argument of will they play or not, it's gone and i'm missing other things more

Taking nothing more than football into account, forget the money, the virus, and all that just the football.

To start this season up again at this stage would be farcial on every level. Home advantage, lack of fans, players deconditioned, players not selected due to fear of injury and being unavailable for the start of next season, players being uncomfortable with playing out of sensible and genuine concern for their families.

Do any bluemooners want to risk KDB, Aguero, or any of the others fucked for next season because they picked up a serious injury in a pointless meaningless game played in mid July?

Yes its a blow for football indeed a serious set back for some clubs and certainly further down the pyramid. It is however not a disaster or indeed a tragedy as it is for many many people for whom this virus has lost them their lively hood or taken love ones.

Unlike many on here I want badly to see City win the CL and this season presented a fantastic chance more so after beating Madrid away. Sadly the world has faced a crisis of unimaginable magnitude so whilst I am gutted that we wont be winning it this time or at least if we do it will be a farcical competition and hardly worth celebrating. Guess what its called fucking tough shit. I am alive I havent yet lost anybody, so for that I must be grateful. Football has a place in society but right now it does'nt.

This will pass and then it will be time to get excited about the game we all love or at least have loved but not yet and its time the FA, UEFA, Clubs, Sky Sky, BT, and even the government need to get into their greedy heads and start to behave in a half decent manner. Give the nation a lift? Bollocks it will do nothing more than fill greedy rich twats pockets, nothing more nothing less.

If the government allow this then they may as well rip up all their social distancing rules & it’s all back to work , money will have overruled lives & why should anybody follow any more of their directives.

Unfortunately, money makes the world go round.

When it all boils down, nothing else matters even if that nothing is a world wide pandemic that has killed 10's and 10's of thousands of people..

Life is cheap, just another commodity that can be pigeonholed alongside, postponed due to waterlogged pitch, too much snow and floodlight failure, all of which inevitably result in the game to be rearranged for a later date..!

The later date is fast approaching and the Covid19 postponed games are just about to kick off..

As far as the greedy people who run the game are concerned, the show must go on, whether you like it or not, hey that's quite catchy, the BBC should get some no mark presenter to spout that every other hour on the TV.. ffs just typing this out and right on cue the smug **** has just uttered the very same words..

Anyway, as far as the PL are concerned, there's nothing to see here, move along now..!

In my view it should be when there can be full stadiums. If we do have a second wave and a significant one then I am afraid football is of no relevance at all.

As a matter of fact if there was any common sense then they should start non league and lower league first to see how it pans out. Of course money and potential TV viewing figures remove any semblance of common sense. After all it is the clubs at those levels who will struggle to survive. The premier League clubs could like many large businesses could survive but would have to cut their cloth accordingly.

The amount of hoops that are being jumped through by the football authorities is becoming desperate and infact quite offensive with anyone with some kind of morals during this crisis.

Watching just a few minutes of the offerings from Germany ought to be enough to convince any supporter that football behind closed doors in an empty stadium is about as watchable as a Conservative party political broadcast.

How thrilling it would be to watch City win the CL in an empty stadium 1000s of miles away each of us sat in the living room at home with nobody else watching.

I for one am sick of hearing about it. Get this season binned and review how and when next season might be started at the beginning of July.

Corrected that schoolboy error for you. No need to thank me.

Wheather you like it or not, how fucking condescending can you get , sounded like , we own the game , we can sell it round the world , it’s OUR tv sport now , you fans are nothing to us now just background noise , there to dress up the stadium for us to market.
I would love every fan at every club to tell them to fuck off when they open the stands back up & keep them empty .
