Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Don't know if this has already been posted and sorry that I can't remember the detail but weren't we once about 7-0 up in a FA Cup tie against Luton with most goals scored by Denis Law and with only a few minutes left to play when the game was abandoned? There was no question of us being awarded the tie. Luton won the replay of course. Typical City.

The rags have spoken....lifted from the Times.

Manchester United have confirmed that they would rebuff any attempts to declare the Premier League season null and void because of the coronavirus outbreak.

In a statement to supporters, the club revealed for the first time that they want the season to be completed, even though doing so would mean that their great rivals Liverpool would almost certainly win their first title in 30 years.

They are desperate for having a champions league spot, they are desperate to service that debt which I imagine is not being paid down at this moment in time due to potentially no tv money coming in and no match day income. If this season does not get done their demise continues but on a much more damaging trajectory.

If football isn’t played some clubs might not even make it to when the season restarts. How can it be a valid competition when teams that began the league last August may be in administration and closing the doors when they try to restart it.

Forget about playing behind closed doors and all that shite, the fact is that until the Government decide the time is right to recind the advise of personal distancing there is not a cat in hells chance of any football being played. I think we are looking at August as the best case for things to get back to some normality again.

Mortuary being set up for 12000 bodies and football plans 3pm Sat kick offs on TV to finish the season.

Football just fuck off.

Just reading that is a horrible thought. But seeing the way football is run in this country you could see it happening .
But the football authorities must know if they carry on like this 1000's will walk away from football once it restarts. People wont forget that they are so desperate to finish the season when the country is building a mortuary to hold 12,000. I am getting so angry with the fa. The fact that the sports press/media and bang on about finishing the season for f**k sake look around and see what's happening I for one dont give a shit about football at this present time.
I just want my family and everyone else's family to be safe.

Just think the fa could have been the leading light in European football by showing everyone that they care about the bigger picture, that they care are the fans the players , the back room staff by being the first to say our season is null n void, we have bigger things to worry about. But no it's all about MONEY

My thoughts are they are waiting for the death rate to get worse and then announce that it will be null and void as if they are sympathetic and caring.( They probably are and mean it).
The issue for me is they haven't got the balls to do it now, step up for fk sake.

“Great rivals”? Bullshit they’re they’re both two cheeks of the same arse, the existence of either is a curse on the game and I bet the two couldn’t be closer behind the scenes
