Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

The article in the Daily Mirror talks about playing 4 games a day at Wembley to finish the season because they don't want 'an artificial way' of deciding who wins the league, who qualifies for the CL and who gets promoted or relegated. Cramming in 4 games a day at a neutral venue, with no fans and a scramble to sanitise the changing rooms etc between games strikes me as about as artificial as you could possibly get. Do these people have no grasp of how ridiculous they sound? (I know, I know, follow the money trail)
I'd love an 'artificial' decision, it would then mean the Dippers will forever be known as artificial winners.

There are 403 matches left to be played across the 4 divisions which include 15 play-off games. League matches alone count for 24.7% of the whole season.

If you played 4 games a day at Wembley and St. George's Park it would take 50 days doing it non-stop. Have the clowns in charge given it any logical thought? Even then allowing 2 hours per game with a 1 hour gap in between, each day would take up 11 hours?

You would have to start at 10am to finish at 9pm. Reduce that to 3 games per day at the two locations and you would be playing for 67 days non-stop.

The play-off games could not be played without a break in between, so you would be adding on a further 7 days minimum.

The whole idea is just barking mad.

Hopefully, he'll pull through, i've read he was released from hospital and doing ok , but this virus has lulled a few into thinking they're recovering before it kills them. I know he might be saying it for effect but i don't feel he was underplaying it when Boris said it could have gone either way. Whtever your political feelings, no one has been in this situation before, mistakes will be made, and very tough decisions are going to be made. The NHS, government, police , whoever need our support, not the constant criticisms from the likes of Piers Morgan and the last thing they need is pressure from football to finish the season . Football is a business but it is a frivolity at the moment
Amen to that!

They don’t need to complete the season, just enough games ( about 3-4 games) to see the scousers crowned champions,it’s disgraceful that the media continue to suggest ideas for finishing the season when in the uk alone as it stands 10,000 have lost their lives to this virus ..

If that's the plan we should refuse to play any games, let them win it with a 3-0 walkover against an Invisible Man City ...football can walkon....

Yes I am aware of that. The same as at the Etihad Campus, however I am not aware of the changing room facilities and how you would separate more than two teams at a time. I just went on one game at a time at each location.

P.S. There are as good if not better facilities at the Etihad campus including a PL ground and mini-stadium which you do not have at the FA complex.

How dare journalists try to raise awareness and criticise the handling of this.
