Coronavirus: Football Discussion Thread

Not really B-J.
The undying fight to try and get this season “completed” while THOUSANDS continue to die from a virus that is mainly spread by close contact or being in the vicinity of an infected person, and is STILL spreading, just goes to show how little the paying fans are thought about. They don’t give a fcuk. They want their billions in sponsorship, back handers and dodgy gambling decisions.
I am 1 of those who won’t be going anywhere near a football stadium or any gathering of large numbers of people until this virus is under control. The insensitivity and greed of those who run the PL is plain for all to see. As for rolling out all those past players saying it should be completed, we all know where their loyalties lie.

That’s all well and good but has absolutely nothing to do with my post.

I am talking about people giving up on City for good, because this season might be finished behind closed doors.

Not really as football is nothing without the fans

I won't pack it in in either scenario. I love football, I have loved the game for most of my life. Beyond the Premier League, beyond this or that player, yes, even beyond City. I love watching kids kick around in a park, and hark back to when I did it, for hours on end on long summer evenings, until it became too dark to see the nets. But I understand what you're saying. We are the only permanent thing. That is, as long as we're alive to stand and shout on those terraces.

(I know, there are no more terraces…more's the pity)

Has anyone posted on here yet the view of a panel of experts assembled by the New York Times which says that mass gatherings such as at sporting events will be the last to be permitted. Their view is that such gatherings cannot really happen until after mass vaccination. They estimate autumn 2021 before they should take place. On that basis of course we can kiss goodbye to the 2020/21 season.

Yep said it few weeks back that we should have upto next May to finish this season then hopefully we have a vaccine then new season starts August 2021 but the football world have there head up there arse and buried deep.

That gives us plenty of time to finish this one then as it means more.

But they didn’t They said if they take a cut only the owners would benefit, at the expense of tax revenue they made their own arrangements with players making individual donations to NHS charities .

Search on Social Media and you will find PL players have in the main posted the letter which outlines their plans
Players from the Premier League have launched the #PlayersTogether campaign to help the National Health Service with its COVID-19 treatment and relief efforts.

The statement read:

"We can confirm that after extensive conversations between a huge number of players from all Premier League clubs we have created our own collective player initiative, #PlayersTogether, and have partnered with NHS Charities Together (NHSCT) in order to assist them in generating and distributing funds quickly and efficiently to where they are needed most."
I've been saying this all along to people who are slating the players for 'not doing anything', we have very little knowledge of what they're doing individually or as a group. It's the modern knee jerk reaction, readily fuelled by social media and the papers. That and the seeming lack of self thought, too many people would rather let someone else tell them what to think nowadays.

I don’t think those who have been there through the dark days will ever turn away completely.
Once a Blue, always a Blue. I will just never go again or subscribe to the money whores BT,SKY etc etc.
