Corruption in English football?

& what about the facts that nobody could present you with? Still say there is no corruption in English football? LMFAO

Can’t admit you’re wrong fella?
Happy to see anything/ everything to show football is corrupt. It’s a pretty empty folder at the moment unless the BBC ITV SKY are all in cahoots?!?

I’m not sure you answered my question earlier in the thread as to whether you thought football in England is clean?

Your line seems to be that there is no cast iron proof that English football is bent?

if someone bricks my window tonight a crime has been committed. The fact there is no proof of who did it doesn’t alter that. None of us on this board have the time, resources or inclination to go after that proof you crave.

myself and others have given you multiple fishy examples tho.

so I ask you again mate, do you think football in England is free from corruption?

The only conclusion when the narrative doesn’t fit. We dodged an offside bullet tonight.
I actually agree with you generally regarding a lot of the apparently “corrupt” stuff, but think you’ve got this one wrong tonight. It was a fair and legitimate goal.

This thread is embarrassing. You should’ve been asking for and posters providing inconclusive proof. They can’t because it’s all utter bullocks. Hearsay, conjecture, this., that, he said, she said drivel. One poster, just one, post conclusive proof of corruption. We’ll be waiting FOR. EVER.

Just one? How about I give you 2 pretty recent ones?

Fat Sam? Ref (can’t remember which one) changing his statement from I saw it, to I didn’t see it on the advice of his bosses so they could retrospectively ban a player?

Both bonafide examples of corruption.

Didn’t have to wait long did you?

Or how about this one?

FA chairman no less.......but of course, there’s no corruption in football. Lmfao

Suppose this isn’t corruption either?

Lol
Or this conviction?
Failed floodlights scam 1997 - A businessman, with links to Chinese Triad gangs, was convicted of taking part in an Asian betting scam by plotting to black out a Charlton Athletic v Liverpool game.
Two previous matches - West Ham united v Crystal Palace and Wimbledon v Arsenal - saw the floodlights fail when the scores were level, a result favourable to a Far East betting syndicate.

Corruption is not new. Look up Sheffield Wednesday circa 1964 to see that it was always there. I think that in the court case around 30 players were involved, probably because there was not the internet, mobile phones and social media, otherwise there would have been many more. One of the daft things was in one of the matches they were paid to lose one of the numpties was awarded MOM.

Early 1900’s Liverpool vs United fixed match, City paying over & above for players wages, the Arsenal scandal......there’s always been corruption in football & there always will be.

Anyone in denial......nowt as blind as those who will not see.

There has always been corruption in football and always will be. The only issue for me is how widespread it is. There are certainly some corrupt individuals in the game but I have never believed there has been a widespread conspiracy across the whole sport.
Ferguson for example was a bully with lots of very powerful friends. If referees upset him their career could be impacted negatively. He exploited this situation. This a form of corruption but is a long way short of people getting brown envelopes of cash.

I think I’m embarrassed now ;)

Some corruption in the English game is actually well documented & doesn’t always take place on the pitch.

The FFP timeline proves corruption in the English game. If people can’t see that the power brokers of European Football (G14) took a good idea about reducing debt & turned it into FFP, as documented from Platini initially talking about regulations; to Platini admitting the G14 forced him to change those rules; then I don’t know what else to say to such people. This is a perfect example of corruption & considering 4 of those G14 clubs are English, it’s actually laughable that some believe there is no corruption in the English game.

Can anyone tell me of a former United or Liverpool Chief Exec having influence & power at UEFA?

Lots of on pitch stuff also well documented from Bruce Grobbelaar admitting on tape he fixed matches to Claus Lundekvam from Soton who said in 2012 that he, his teammates and opposing captains had constantly manipulated certain aspects of matches “almost every week”. He stated that “We could make deals with the opposing captain about, for example, betting on the first throw, the first corner, who started with the ball, a yellow card or a penalty. Those were the sorts of thing we had influence over.”

Example after example of corruption for over 100 years has been listed in this thread, not just hearsay, but actual facts, actual proven cases, actual live recordings of players admitting to corruption

However, Corruption? What corruption? Move along, nothing to see here. Maybe the poster who was embarrassed works for the FA & wants to keep a lid on it ‘for the good of the game?’
Italy, proven corrupt, France, proven corrupt, Spain, openly corrupt, UEFA proven corrupt, FIFA, proven corrupt, Greg Dyke ffs!!!! Plus all of the above & yet you don’t believe the English game is corrupt?

Lots of proven facts there mate.....still say the English game has no corruption in it?

You do understand what corruption is don’t you? It’s not necessarily brown envelopes & match fixing &/or bent refs?

Edit. Let’s add cricket, snooker, tennis & golf to the list of corruption, again with proven cases, so I really don’t understand your opinion of no corruption, not true, no evidence, when both facts & using your brain would suggest otherwise? Anything where bets can occur for a specific outcome or a ‘committee’ or ‘panel’ runs something, it’s always likely to be open to corruption due to bias & personal relationships. It may not be ‘intentional corruption, but it exists. I’ve experienced it myself & I was the beneficiary.

We keep getting asked for proof. OK, for years fans discussed whether the ball had crossed the line for a goal. Us lot that believed it was bent would say how the rags always got the dodgy decisions so.... goal line technology was introduced. It was precision down to millimetres, no more controversy they said, remember the dippers 'goal' against us? A photo is produced showing clearly the ball hadn't crossed the line. Brilliant no more conspiracy theory's....... Until you need the rags in Europe. Sheff Utd v Villa everyone can see the ball has crossed the line, the keeper is holding against the post ffs. I think we all know what happened next.

was watching a re-run of Chelsea v Rags. DeMatteo was managing Chelsea, i believe 2012, fergie last season. That game, chelsea lost 2-3.

Guess who was reffing that game. Twattenburg. And those 2 red cards! wow if there ever was a game that demonstrated blatant fraud this was it.

Torres red card, and ivanovic.

And the offside goal that won the rags the game.

I love the phrase “ Absence of evidence is not evidence of Absence”.

I might be wrong but I think that was the first time Clattenburg had referred United since the 6 1, a gap of possibly 23 games. He certainly made sure it wasn’t another 23 games before he refereed United again that day
