And...lets not forget what used to happen 2 decades ago..
Certain managers would pick weakened teams to play at old trafford ,on the basis that they were never gonna win against such a formidable opponent...they effectively gave up the game before a ball was kicked.This was in the days of utd dominance...and has iirc been openly articulated ,back in the day by managers such as Sam Allayrdyce (Bolton) and Mick McCarthy (Wolves).....a teams top scorer or best player was often missing.....not hard to imagine the inside- betting activity,...back in those Slur alec Ferguson years.

Even a piece on English football & the ‘bung’ culture. I’m shocked that people inside football acknowledge bungs are/were rife in England, shocked I tell you. I thought English football would be exempt from corruption as we’re British, have a stiff upper lip & NEVER get involved in any corruption whatsoever.....NEVER

And those on the outside looking in then wanted a piece of the action so now you have dodgy agents, bent players, PiGMOB, two TV companies and media sports sections working together with crooked betting markets to get rich by fleecing the gullible.
