Costel Pantilimon

Ultimately Hart is the better keeper of the two, he's just in a poor run of form and rightly has been taken out of the lineup. At some stage, probably sooner rather than later, he'll be given the opportunity to play a few games in a row and demonstrate that he's put his errors behind him. Pantilimon is a decent keeper, but he's not a winning the title, challenging for top honours in Europe keeper, he's not at that level, at his best Joe is.

I had in my head that his contract is up at the end of the season for some reason; it runs until 2016 apparently. He's done himself no harm in attracting suitors for a move

Pantillimon is holding the number one spot at the moment and as his confidence grows he may grow to be better keeper than Hart

Hart was given the chance to grow into the position and so should Pantillimon

Hart has to except the fact for the time being he has had his chance and he has blown it

He now has to do what Pantillimon did and that is work hard and play in the dead games and the cups he must wait for his chance again and if Pantillimon grows into the position Hart might have to wait for an injury

If Hart can't or wont wait the the club needs to find a new keeper to challenge Pantillimon

Hart needs to learn that even in a world cup year His club comes first and if that means Manchester City field a Romanian keeper all year then so be it

Hart seems to have got himself into this mess because every one keeps saying he his England's number one but he seems to have lost his focus on remaining Manchester City's number one and for the foreseeable future his is and should be Manchester City's number two.

I don't remember seeing so many people come out in support of Given a few years ago when he was dropped I cannot get my head around the fact that so many posters on here seem to put well being of Hart before the well being of Manchester City !

I think you are mistaken. We're not fan-boys on this thread.

As far as I can see, virtually everyone has City's interests uppermost. It's simply that opinions vary as to whether those interests are best served by Joe or Pants.

Just normal debate, mate.

Hart should start midweek - and based on training alone, Hart or Costel (or even Wright) should play the next game. Costel barely put a foot wrong but backs against the wall, Hart wins every time for me.

This is working out pretty well for mcfc.
Costel has done a pretty decent job to date and done nothing to warrant being dropped. This is buying Joe some time to sort his head out. The moment Pants drops a big one it will give MP a chance to bring Joe back into the fold.
Ideal really.
Hope Hart has a decent game on Wednesday. Lets make sure he gets an extra big cheer on the night.

Unfortunately, "dropping a big one" doesn't not and cannot mean just letting in a goal or coming for a cross and not getting it. It has to mean making a right fuck up that costs us points. Anything less than that and Pants is going to feel extremely hard done by. And I am NOT hoping for dropped points!

That said, I think Pellegrini has played it right. It had got to the point with Joe that something had to be changed, and the "stick with him and show our support" line had gone as far as it could. After Chelsea, a change was necessary and unavoidable, imho.
Agree with all that. I still think Joe will get back in as soon as Pants has a wobble. Let's hope it's not anytime soon as I like the guy and he deserves his chance. Must have been awful being dropped on cup final day no matter what he said to the journos...

No we don't. We just support our players a bit more than you. I can't believe you are so quick to condemn Joe and ship out.
He obviously has had form problems recently but in the past he has been phenomenal for us. I'm hoping he can get back to his best
and save us some money.

Joe Hart is still one of the best keepers in the world , but he is not in form , Pants will never be a world class keeper , but he deserves the jersey , and will not let our club down , but ulitimately i want joe back between the sticks , confident and showing the class he has got in abundance.

I often wonder if Pants would have prevented Wigan's goal.
