Agree with all that. I still think Joe will get back in as soon as Pants has a wobble. Let's hope it's not anytime soon as I like the guy and he deserves his chance. Must have been awful being dropped on cup final day no matter what he said to the journos...

I often wonder if Pants would have prevented Wigan's goal.

Know what you mean but the way we were playing that day I think we could still be playing now and not have scored

Was ok today, I do wish people would apply the same standards to Costel as they do to Joe though.

In which sense? High or low?

High. There were a few things he did today that would have led to pages and pages of 'discussion' on Joe's ability had it been him that had done them. Don't get me wrong though, I'm happy Costel is getting the backing of everyone.

To drop Pantilimon now will make dropping Hart merely a punishment. Pantilimon had grasped his opportunity and must be rewarded by keeping his place. Hart can have the cup games and Bayern Munich. He will have to be exceptional right now to displace Pantilimon.

And what if he gets picked on Wednesday and drops another clanger?

Preparing to be shot down here, but here goes...
In my opinion, Pants is our only out and out goalkeeper, Hart is not. Hart has admitted himself on more than one occasion that he 'doesn't know football' (paraphrasing of course) but in way of tactics, formations and build up play Hart is very out of place and isolated. As a youngster, Hart was a very talented cricketer and could well have made a decent career out of it. What Hart does have going for him though, is his immense agility and reflexes allow him to pull of the wonder saves that have bought us so many points the past few seasons. However, to me that is like an outfield player who is blessed with pace and a good shot, but nothing more. Eventually they'd be found out wouldn't they? I also think Pantilimon organises the defence much better in the absence of Vinnie. Just to clarify, I think that they are both good keepers who possess their own talents which warrant a place in our team, but I'm not sure either are our long term option.

Final thought- would much prefer Hart if he knuckles down and ADDS to his game as well as improves, as he is Englands number 1 and for the years of service he has given us. And there is plenty of time for that to happen, it's all a question of attitude now.

Keeping Costel in the team sends a message to everyone that no one is guaranteed a place in the squad. MP I think really believes that they are all important players so no one is safe from being dropped. I think Joe was getting too comfortable and now has to show and prove why he should be our number 1, forget about England commitments for now.
