Could Pedro Porro be a long-term replacement for Walker?

He does, he'll gain the massive signing on bonus we pay him, say £5m and wave bye the next day as we pocket £30m (less £5m) profit.

Business in bad faith. Would put a severe dent in a good relationship with Sporting - who produce some brilliant players and won't help us in the future if we're ever after one of them (which I fully expect we will be).

We inserted a sell on clause for a reason and I think in the (very unlikely) instance we buy him it will be to play for us.

I agree he can still be a squad player but not buying Porro and selling Walker.
If Bellingham is arriving with a few other major signings we may have to be careful with the wage bill.

Hence why we may be tempted to lose his wage.

Disagree, Sporting new the deal when they signed him.

You don't know what's in the contract - for all we know there's a clause restricting the club from doing what you suggest.

The fact that we inserted a 30% sell on clause may well indicate that.

Obviously, but neither do you.

My comment was a direct response to a question of what would be in it for the player if the clause existed.

We won't be able to sell Walker. He will just go at the end of his contract/retire.

So Porro would be joining with Walker and Lewis for competition, doubt he would fancy that when he can go and be first choice at spuds.

You're right, we'll keep Kyle until he gets his walker (see what I did there).

On the other hand City will plan his successor for WHEN we "get rid".
Yes we will plan this but whole Porro coming in so sell Walker idea is stupid. He can be a squad player and rotated.

My one worry would be that Pep has always said world class squads should be small to ensure playing time and I agree. We have seen this year with the centre backs he rotates too much. That is partly due to injury.

We are also in a good position on this transfer like Lavia. Ideally we may want him back but another year at sporting being 1st choice would arguably be better for his development. If some goes in for him seriously we activate the buy back.
