Could we be playing in the Community Shield after all?

A trophy is a trophy is a trophy. It only ceases to have any importance when the fans of certain clubs, all too familiar to proper fans, don't win it! It reverts to being a trophy again when they win it!

Funny, have you noticed references to the Big Four becoming more commonplace again? we’ve had a couple of seasons of the Big Six, and even the Big Seven that season that Moyes was in charge at United.

I wonder why it keeps changing.

And it's reasons like this that Liverpool's "barnstorming, historical, ruthlessless, greatest team ever," title win isn't respected by many people who know they literally threw away competitions to have a free crack at the premier league.

They won't be held in the same light as City until they take all competitions equally seriously.

Fucking bin diving, human killing, low social class joke of a club and fan base.

I think their reluctance to take part stems from a rumour tv money will go to helping minimum wage workers within the game get through these times and we all know how Liverpool football club feels about those people. Furlough FC.

I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want this game, ignoring the debate as to whether they value the competition or not they can use this as a valuable warm up for the new season, there’s going to be no real pre season games, this is a step up from a behind closed doors friendly and it’s not as if they won’t be in training anyway.

If we get to the final of the CL I think we’ll be in the best shape of anyone (apart from maybe United and Wolves if they get to the EL final), ready to start the season.

Pre-season exhibition games are one thing, real football games are far better for fitness.

For once, we won’t have had to go around the world three times to sell the brand and hope to get a few sponsors on board (while paying absolutely no attention on preparing the players for the season).
On Day 1 maybe but what about fatigue and injury throughout the season? Rest and recuperation is surely important?

I don't know, hence the question marks, but we've always been told that players need to rest and recover.

They should be forced to play. They were happy enough to play the World Charity Shield and knew at the start of the season what rules are ie PL winners play Charity shield. If they want to put a kids team out so be it but they should not be able to choose what competitions they wish to enter. Hope we do not take up any option to play it as its just wrong as we did not win and league or cup

Let Arsenal and Chelsea play it if the scouse scum can’t be arsed but you will never hear a bad word said about them from the media.

City could always field an ‘alternative’ team in the CS.

In any event City have been playing every three to four days since the restart and not far off that before the shut down. Six days would be luxury.
We used to dream of living in a house.
