Doesn't sound good.

What i don't get is an 18 year old driving a powerful Mercedes.

That in itself is stupidity.

His insurance, assuming he was insured, would have been over £10k a year in that vehicle.

Young players getting paid far too much is half the problem.

Fair enough to pull the first thread. For those who missed it, people got over-excited and ended up throwing innuendoes and insults. Essentially it boiled down to comment about the alleged perpetrator, on one side, versus innocent until proven guilty on the other.

Nothing new about getting hot and bothered on BM. However since two tragic deaths are involved here, not to mention legal ramifications, the mods have apparently called order.

Dont talk stupid.

1) Not every 18 year old drives like a dick
2) You dont know what Mercedes it was, so how can you say it was over £10k a year to insure
3) He will have been insured, its not like he cant afford it is it?
4) Why do they get paid to much? They have a short career and are in a highly popular sport which generates trillions of pounds.

My thoughts are wilth the family of the deceased and with the lads involded and their families.

City are paying these young lads £6k a week.
That is a lot of money for an 18 year old lad.

They don't drink so they buy and show off cars.

I didn't say every 18 year old drives like a dick. You do however, become a better driver with more years of experience generally speaking. You will find the reason for the high insurance is due to the amount of accidents young drivers have (especially males).

I earnestly urge you to take note what my learned friend Ducado has said. The initial thread descended into a woman-fest of "I know what really happened", "No you're wrong I know the real facts" when it was clear none of the people was a witness to the incident and, if they were, they really should not have been posting.

Then it was getting abusive so it was pulled. At the end of the day, let's remember that two people are dead, two injured and two people are facing possible serious criminal charges. People behaving like dicks on here is completely unnecessary, as is anything that may compromise the legal process.

Firstly, I myself am 18 so have a pretty good idea how much it is to get insured. I was quoted £9k for a 2 litre Picasso. The Guardian's description 'powerful Mercedes' suggests a little more than that.

Secondly, no, not every 18 year old drives like a dick, but a hell of a lot do including the vast majority of my friends.

I have no issue with footballer's wages, not in the slightest. But Meppen-Walter is an 18 year old with his fist professional contract, playing in the EDS, nowhere near the first team. If his wages mean he can spunk £10k a year on car insurance, then he's getting paid too much in my opinion.

I agree, but not every young male drives like an idiot. After all, this may not be his fault.

Seems to be a lot of speculation on this thread which isn't really helpful.

What kind of Mercedes was it? Many Fords and Vauxhalls develop more power.

You can pick up a decent used one for less than 6k if you look hard enough.

My thoughts are very much with the victims, the truth of what really happened will come out in due course.

The majority do.

-- Sun Sep 02, 2012 7:22 pm --

Where in this thread have people been abusive or has it turned into a "woman fest". People are simply debating civilly on the thread in question.
