Great dodge Priti.

Not answering the Cummings question. Just thanking the NHS instead...

don’t see why it’s relevant at all.

his part of government. Whether he’s there or not. He’s not gonna overide scientific advise - and even if he could , he doesn’t need to be in a meeting to do that.

It's a relevant question as the government refuse to release minutes and attendees. Maybe it's because they show Cummings is running the show?

For me that’s not really the point. If the NHS guy had given the answer you have, then fair enough, but he didn’t. He specifically, not Patel, was asked about it twice, and his answer was too vague and didn’t address the question, even to the extent you have.

Dominic Cummings = Alistair Campbell.

As for The Guardian.
They may as well just call themselves The Daily We Hate Dominic Cummings.

Who reads this ?
No wonder its not on the newsstands anymore.
I wouldn't put it down for puppy training.

Another non-answered question from Steven there re Cummings, twice
,
No transparency from these briefings, disgraceful. 20k dead now 30k at end of may [just hospital], including nhs/care/key workers, you would think, in particular, as in their words they havnt breached capacity then they could now give a straight answer, did cummings speak in sage meeting and if so what did he say...

In my experience, the longer you avoid the question, the more harm the answer will ultimately impact you

I think it going to go up,the nice weather is here, people going back to work,i don't think people will entertain a tighter lockdown

WHO saying again today there is no evidence of immunity yet
Injecting the plasma from survivors into new patients is working in preventing the transition to requiing ventilator care, in fact I don't know why it is still being trialed - so there is at least some short time immunity.

It isn't relevant until he refuses to answer it, and now we all want to know why it's such a secret if there's nothing to tell.

Yep, for sure. And all the focus on the NHS and hospital deaths, whilst understandable, is only half the picture isn’t it, without factoring in care home and home cases and deaths.
Ultimately it’s a global pandemic, not a party political issue ffs, so why not for once just give direct answers?
I’ve no problem with them embellishing their answer and going round the houses or even off-topic, and long as we get a straight answer/the short version, as well, at the start.

When is Boris back for these briefings?
We need him answering these questions, its the same questions every day.
Dont get too optimistic about his responses. He is probably waiting for gradual lifting of restrictions and he will just recite 'get lifting done' ad nauseum as per 'get brexit done'. The actual thinking behind it will be articulated by others and he will trot out soundbites

Eh?

Really? Genuine question, but I didn’t realise it was being reported that plasma injections was “working”. Any links please?

The home secretary answered the b and q question saying its fine, they are a business, they have revised their format to ensure social distancing,

So its fine?

So if the message she ended with is stay at home is the most important, why is going out to b and q this week essential and fine, when they have been closed the previous x4 weeks, so more people actually dont just stay at home this week, they are actually going out more..........

Also why not just open up all other business today? as they too are a business & can just revise their format to ensure social distancing too?

Then she finished by admonishing the questioner stating that the govt was not giving out mixed messsges...

Arrgghh i did the briefing but my battery went before i posted it

Usual questions about ending lockdown, usual answers, not yet, five rules have to be met

The plods are catching lots of criminals to do with drugs, guns, people selling fake tests and virus treatments @hgblue bet the one you talked about is one

There will be a lot of indirect deaths from the pandemic, royal college of surgeons says to clear the backlog of cancelled operations will take five year, people will die from cancer because treatments have had to be postponed etc, right now we have to focus on the nhs not being overwhelmed

But.the NHS is open via your dr,111 & 999 please use it

Continue with staying at home unless you have to go to work etc then stick to distancing rules

Numbers of hosp admissions from covid are decreasing, death rates will be the last number to go down

Question about merging households NO keeping the transmission rate down is the key thing

They know it is difficult but don't waste all the effort so far

From the WHO today, still no proof of immunity,so if you have had it stick to the same rules as everyone else for now

I went to B&Q this morning and on a positive note for the hour that i was in the queue i only saw two people who did not follow the social distancing, I would guess they were both in their 60's and one saw the other in line as he came out of the store, he came over for a chat with him and was stood about 3 foot away while talking. Other than that everyone was distancing well both inside and outside of the store. So on that point it all seems good and managable, maybe this is what the Government want and as long as people keep to distancing they will allow things to get back to normal.
