They need to issue some guidelines on frequency of shopping. I heard one suggestion that we should restrict it to once a week. Which would be good from the point of view of restricting contact, but would inevitably mean that people will stockpile. Not sure what the right balance is.

I don’t know the answer either but that’s no use if you can’t find necessities on your one outing.

Another example of the lack of clarity this morning:

Even the government are getting it wrong.

There needs to be a lot stronger message at some point today.

It’s unrealistic to expect the government to have dotted every i and crossed every t when they make these announcements. I

Can't believe he told us to use supermarket delivery services, you can't book one for love nor money.
Yeah, said this straight after the announcement. Nothing much changed. People still have to go to work and people will still fight with each other at supermarkets because the food delivery services are at breaking point. And the 1 exercise allowed per day rule is a joke. Exercise should have been restricted to the home/garden. You don’t need to ride a bike or go jogging to keep fit. Joe Wicks is doing amazing work (free of charge) to prove that. People will just whack their trainers on, so what they want and just start running when they are confronted. It’s no different to yesterday and they need to crack the whip ASAP.

Unless of course this is all part of the herd immunity plan. They got pelters for saying it was the plan initially (quite rightly), so perhaps they have now decided to keep it as a key part of the plan but disguise it a bit.

It’s a lot slower in the UK! I haven’t left the house for 11 days, Madrid even longer. The UK government had the experiences of China, Italy and Spain to consider and still waited long after most of the world’s major countries to go on a ‘lockdown’.

It is a balancing act, of keeping the NHS from collapsing, the economy from bursting, and society from imploding.

Too much too soon, might help one, others get gubbed. Too slow too late likewise. Each is as important for the other two as they are to themselves. All about buying time.

Just had a text confirming that I have to stay at home but loads of caveats to that, it's a bit wishy washy lots of wiggle room and there is no way on earth that these recommendations will stop the spread of this virus. They are even moving the at risk criteria about to suit them, noticing that they have removed diabetics from the at risk group.

Children can be ferried about from house to house, people can still go to work if the employer decides they can and people crammed onto trains and buses, you can go shopping. have exersize ,it's IMO a cocktail for tragedy just because there isn't the will to nail peoples feet to the floor.

They need to open 24 hours to spread out the footfall as much as possible.
Reducing the no. of tubes hasn't worked.

I'd be getting quite frightened now if I was in London.

It's evident from China, South korea, Singapore, Japan, Germany and even Italy that a combination of testing and lockdowns work. Do it properly. It's the most basic function expected of government.

They need to open 24 hours to spread out the footfall as much as possible.

Supermarkets could also reconfigure their stores. There is precious little need for clothing and other such items at this point. The space should be devoted to foodstuffs and medicines as much as possible, and dry goods could be moved quite easily.

Lots of the same posters pull fault in every decision made by the guv. Everyday after the presser, they government are incompetent or not clear, or what about this group, etc etc. people will take the piss about the exercise rules, loads still go to work, streets look busier than ever.

the fact is many many people even on this forum are sticking it to exactly what is instructed. I know no one outside key workers that are working. We have a large family group and friends, none are visiting, we don’t go out for anything, food is ordered and been delivered. Apart from the weekend park scenario, it’s dead outside in general.
Almost every fucker gets it.
but in a fast moving scenario clarity is not always clear immediately, it will be.
I’m noticing a split between those that are staying in and those that don’t know what to do or are reluctant.
the stay in group, class everyone else as murderers more or less, idiots in the extreme.
The still not sure group can’t or won’t make decisions until every single thing is clarified.
Not for me to decide for you either in or out.
But clearly noticeable

Well as Jenrick has tweeted and confirmed construction sites can remain open, Ashley expects Sports Direct workers to clock in, all emergency services workers and workers in shops that sell food and medicines will be going into work it may be hard to define and identify those wankers if they exist at all. The restrictions are so loose I'd expect most of those who went to work today will go tomorrow. They aren't being wankers they are just being compelled or allowed to.

No not really. A whole range of places got shut yesterday, explicitly. A list of them. Some may look for wriggle room, some sraff may challenge it, it will soon get sorted.
Others are allowed to operate. The big message is don't go out unless you really have to, dont socialise. and that will be what makes the big difference when the public start to really buy into it.
