COVID-19 — Coronavirus

Apparently not as they are totally different, of course having the flu jab can reduce the workload on the NHS so is a good thing.

I had the flu two winters running, 12 and 11 years ago, and it's the worst I've ever felt, a real shot to the system. I've always had the jab from the local Asda's since and only had one slight cold since. I always got a cold in winter (and I mean always) with a nose running like a full bore river, I'm guessing the flu jab boosts my immune system enough to stop me getting a cold. I don't miss trying to sleep with toilet roll shoved up my nostrils.
I was just wondering if it could kick-start the immune system into fighting any foreign virus that enters the body including covid 19

I said you were wumming if you couldn't answer the question What did Taiwan know, and when did they know it?

Just pinning down what you say above: What did Taiwan write to the WHO in December? They say they asked if this pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan could be transmitted human to human. You were implying Taiwan knew it could be transmitted human to human. What is your evidence for that?

The visiting scientists visited Wuhan in January. Their press release said, "In response to the ongoing severe special infectious pneumonia outbreak in Wuhan, China, Taiwan sent the Commander Chuang Yin-ching of the Communicable Disease Control Medical Network and the medical officer Hung Min-nan from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (Taiwan CDC) to visit Wuhan, China to obtain more comprehensive information of the outbreak. In the morning of January 16, 2020, the two experts hosted a press conference after their return to Taiwan. During their visit, besides understanding the latest development of the outbreak and the prevention and control measures implemented in Wuhan, the two experts also visited the local hospital and the negative pressure ward in order to better understand the treatment process of the cases and the nosocomial infection control measures implemented at the hospital."

Not a word then about not being able to see all they wanted to see or that "they knew something was wrong". How it was transmitted was dealt with in the same press release: "Since confirmed cases that had not visited the Huanan Seafood Market have been subsequently reported in Thailand and Japan, limited human-to-human spread in Wuhan cannot be ruled out. Additionally, as the source of infection is still under investigation, Taiwan CDC has raised the travel notice level for Wuhan City to Level 2: Alert, advising travelers planning to recently visit Wuhan and other neighboring areas in China to take personal precautions to ward off infection."

Can you not get this? No-one knew. Your whole edifice here is based on the assumption that China was suppressing information about the virus, what it was, and how it was transmitted. You have no evidence.

I didn't read much about it but this was all over the news in the last couple of weeks.

And when every country on the planet goes all out to kickstart there economies after this its going to be nasty.

this has proven through that where there is a will there is a way when it comes to polution.
I’d argue there will be a lot more working from home, a lot less commuting, less business travel, maybe less air travel.

And the orange idiot won’t be around for ever :)

Bang on mate, but there is some positives.
Uk tourism is going to explode, this year and for many years.
The great summer rip off is over for ever.
Restaurants and pubs are going to be booming, what they lose now they’ll make up easy.
Self employed bullshit tax returns will cease.
The nhs will be stronger and more appreciated.
The cleanliness of the nation will improve and winter viruses will slow.
Family life will improve, parents doing more at home and outdoors.
Eating less shite from takeaway,
Shite companies like sports direct will be swerved and binned.
Grandparents appreciated more, the elderly acknowledged rather than ignored.
Sport brought back to earth.
A country more as one.
Money is vital but life is more important.

agree With most of that and that the general trend will be from the domestic market going forward but pubs and restaurants booming this year? Not sure about that. Factor in that this is a two way street and that the number of overseas visitors will be a patch on previous years then that’s going to severely dent the hospitality sector - I can’t see the pubs and restaurants in Hazel Grove and in the city center just as one small example getting my custom this year 3 or 4 times for the first time since I can remember sadly.

Good news though is one less tourist in the stadium to contend with :-)

also add to that the economic consequences ( people will feel poorer without a doubt just by looking at their pension fund values for a start) I suspect it will be well into next year before we see numbers anywhere near 2019.
