Just going back to these figures, just read about a Villa fan that started showing symptoms at the final,

we know @karen7 caught it at Wembley , presumably not from the Villa fan from somebody else, so we know at least 2 people had it previous to March and were spreading it unknowingly, so how many left Wembley with it and spread it when they went home out of 80,000 ? Maybe these figures are a fair
guide.
We also know it must have been established in the UK in February a while before the first confirmed / hospital cases.

That I agree with.
But a huge chuck of the problem is that we believed China. They lied. For one, the infection rate is higher than China predicted.
But the BBC and others decided that wearing masks was not important. Sadly, it is vital on public transport as it reduces the aerosol spread range of the wearer. This is clear to all in the far east who have experienced bird flue, SARS, and swine fever.

All shop employees wear masks which has encouraged customers to do the same.

Apart from the medical evidence you cite I was talking to a petrol attendant yesterday and she said they wear them to reassure customers they are not going to contaminate them.
Not much petrol self service here in our part of Spain but also zero cases of the virus up to now.
I wonder if self service without gloves was / is responsible for some of its spread?

He’s a journalist, not the fucking state. I want journalists with all sorts of opinions to be given a platform, I don’t want the state to knowingly lie.
