Having been in Aldi earlier I can report that rip-off Britain is sadly alive and well. Loads of items up 10-15% since I was last in 10 days ago, blatant profiteering when so many have less to spend. Apparently other supermarkets have been doing the same.

Anyone doing a shop like this is paying more than £20 over the odds, wherever you go. There's been no attempt to protect consumers at a critical time.​

If we end up tracking numbers similar to Italy and Spain then it's simply not good enough given the head start we had. We had so much time to get this lockdown going.

Sadly, we’re right on course not to follow Italy and Spain, but to do worse, looking purely at the growth rate. Actual numbers aren’t really a good guide but rate of growth tells you what the real picture is and our deaths are doubling every 3 days, which puts us over 10000 next week.
That’s not to say the lockdown won’t have had an effect and, if it has, we might not do worse or even follow the Spanish or Italians but, just looking at growth rates, we are. Interestingly, so are the USA and Germany.

1 exercise per day. Supermarkets. Working. B+Q and bike shops open. It's wishy washy and it sends the wrong message to the dickheads in society.

Supermarkets have to stay open but agree about B&Q and bike shops. Most people I know are working from home although there are still who should be but aren't for whatever reason. Always said this country is full of idiots and this pandemic pretty much proves it. Stay at home and we can end this situation quicker than if we all go out for a jolly. I am presuming the deaths we are seeing now are from people who possibly fell ill two or three weeks ago when people where still going out as normal. Hopefully after Easter we may see a small reduction and then if we can all stay at home then by the end of April / mid May things will begin to turn around...

They should blame their Asian colleagues in China, before Europe or the States, although we have sleep walked into this.

Although the Chinese didn’t have any warning of this, unlike the west, so sleep walked is possibly a bit understated.

Sorry to be ignorant but when an NHS employee is eventually tested what will it test ?
Is it whether they have got the virus, had the virus and recovered or don't have CV?
Additionally, if they do not have the virus how often will the test need to be done for its meaning to last?

Rushing out to stockpile meaning deals have had to be removed to stop people doing it, production has had to ramped up so costs are going up and that adds to the cost, Tesco’s are paying their staff an extra 10% (deservedly I should add) whilst this is going on but that will get passed on to the consumer.

Its the general public that’s caused this not the supermarkets or producers.

Equally, new cases stats are accelerating dramatically too.

We’re 15 days behind them currently if anyone is still bothered with doing comparisons.

True, initially but they let it get out of hand by trying to cover it up.

We are very much culpable for what’s happening in Europe and the US.

I think whilst it’s over there or only over here in small numbers, it’s difficult to go for a lockdown. As silly as that sounds now, the public wouldn’t be on board and it’s unclear if it will spread to such large numbers.

We’re paying the price for gambling on the above.

I don't doubt that bellends will always be bellends. Or that some work has to be done. But the more irresponsible 'I'm alright Jack' type will always abuse it and that's why it's on the govt to enforce things.

The UK still has a long, long way to go. Day 20 here of a much stricter lockdown and numbers are still rising. And we didn't have half the send off that the UK did.
